Ad Sales Manager - South East Europe

The Role:

The individual selected for this position will independently manage and develop ad sales in South East Europe, meaning Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia with an eye to developing new markets and business. Responsibilities include setting and implementing the ad sales strategy in line with the corporate goals, working closely with local reps and in order to effectively manage the Discovery advertising portfolio and deliver annual budgets. Reports directly to County Manager SEE and works in close cooperation with VP Ad Sales Development CEEMEA.

This role will be based in our Sofia (Bulgaria) office with frequent travel required within South East Europe.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development of the ad sales strategy and making it operational in South East Europe, having a deep understanding of each market.
  • Building and managing the relations with agencies rep resenting Discovery’s ad sales in the SEE region in order to maximise the revenue and advertising opportunities in the region
  • Translating strategy into goals, KPIs, priorities and operations.
  • Ongoing monitoring of KPIs and effective management of the KPIs to drive the business.
  • Prepare and negotiate the deals with agencies and direct clients.
  • Creating and managing effective B2B support, aligned with individual market priorities.
  • Managing ad sales related issues within South East Europe (excluding Romania)
  • First contact for all Discovery clients originating from SEE market.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key clients.
  • Close cooperation with Country Manager and VP of Ad Sales Development CEEMEA on ad sales strategies and potential new business developments.
  • Regular reporting to corporate team.
  • Close cooperation with the Channel Team, Brand Partnership Team, Finance Director and other Ad Sales organisation and Commercial Controlling & Business Development organisation to use all opportunities to further development.
  • Close cooperation with Planning & Traffic Department to develop top quality client service tools
  • Taking the lead and develop agency & client direct relationships/deals in SEE.
  • Business development of new markets and ad sales opportunities, taking ownership of the development process internally and externally from initial concept to implementation.

Basic qualifications:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in TV advertising sales in a managerial position, demonstrating a full understanding of the sales environment and successful practices.
  • University degree.
  • In depth knowledge of TV ad sales market on agency and client levels in the region, ideally with experience on at least two of the four markets.
  • Excellent level of English and at least one of Bulgarian, Serbian, Croatian or Slovene.
  • Passion to work and travel regularly across a diverse region.
  • A proven analytical mind-set.
  • Know-how of the regional TV market.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Highly motivated
  • Good team player
  • Ability to focus on results and detail to maintain highest standards in customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work independently with remote management and be self-motivated, under minimum supervision.
  • Proactive and ambitious approach.
