We are looking for:
Bioinformatics Analyst
As an engineer transitioning to a Bioinformatics Analyst you will have an opportunity to learn about genome biology, genome sequencing and tools commonly used to analyze sequenced data, deal with inherent sequencing biases and provide interpretation of genomic events.
You will have an opportunity to work on various tasks that bring bioinformatics tools closer to biologists but also to work on difficult problems of bridging a gap between the worlds of bioinformatics science and infrastructure.
An ideal candidate would:
- have 2+ years of professional engineering experience
- ideally professional server side or data analysis Python development (though equivalent Java or C experience is appreciated)
- familiarity with *NIX platform (Linux, OS/X, FreeBSD) and bash
- familiarity with git or mercurial VCS systems
- be able to learn new subjects quickly and thoroughly
- have good communication skills
- be proficient in spoken and written English
- be genuinely curious and constantly striving to learn
And we also think that...
- a strong background in computer science, math or physics is a big plus
- have a solid knowledge of algorithms and data structures is plus
- familiarity with statistical data analysis is a plus
- experience with genomics is a plus
