LAA Editorial Associate

If you love books, this is an opportunity to help authors find literary agents. 

Literary Agent Alerts (LAA) is a new product by NY Book Editors, and we’re hiring someone with social media know-how to manage the newsletter.

For the right candidate, this job will give you an opportunity to grow and learn about the book publishing industry by staying on top of agent requests and trends. 

We’re looking for an associate who is fluent in English. Your English needs to be impeccable.  

You’ll be reviewing social media feeds, blogs, and industry sites to filter, combine, and rewrite snippets. 

What does LAA do?

They receive a newsletter with a collection of tweets, interviews, or articles that mentions agents who are looking for a book in their genre.  

When we did a pre launch for this product, we were surprised by its reception. Almost 200 authors prepaid and we were flooded with emails telling us it’s a great idea. You’ll have the opportunity to help launch a product that looks very promising, grow with it, and impact its direction and influence.

We’re a small team, so this is a chance to be involved at the ground level. Your hours will be difficult given the time zone -- 3pm to 11pm at night Monday through Friday but if you’re up for that, there are a lot of benefits.

• You will create work that matters. The purpose of NYBE and LAA is “to elevate those who dare to create”. We expect your work to influence 1000 authors by the end of this year. NYBE has over 45,000 subscribers and over 600,000 readers annually.
• You will grow constantly. You’ll need to learn about book trends, agents, new social media tools.
• You will enjoy generous vacations. We take every American Federal Holiday off, one week off during Christmas and New Years, and you will have three additional weeks off of your choice in your first year and four weeks off in your second year. Note: You must be in the role for six months before taking a vacation other than Christmas/New Years.
• You can work from anywhere. This is a remote position. As long as you have a fast internet connection, you can choose your location.

• Copy/paste select links
• Rewrite or combine links as needed
• Ensure the newsletter looks well designed with different sizes for the images

• Provide customer service to LAA subscribers

Compensation

• The compensation for this role is $700 USD per month.
