Safety Advisor

Location: Smederevo

This position is for an OHS Specialist who ensures with Manager the organization complies with safety, environmental, and fire protection regulations. Good support and help to the manager measured by the ability to maintain a safe and compliant workplace, reduce risks, and foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility is success in this role.

Job Description

  • To provide advice and guidance on all aspects of health, safety, and welfare to all staff as appropriate.
  • Applying and ensuring compliance with all legal, environmental, and safety requirements and implementing programs related to occupational health and safety Harsco Standards.
  • To prepare, update, and archive EHS documents.
  • To identify emerging and existing workplace risks, report risks to management and propose preventive measures.
  • To monitor the safety of council operations and premises by coordinating regular
  • Checks and audits of the buildings and work practices, preparing reports and making.
  • Recommendations for improvement as necessary.
  • To assist in the investigation of cases of alleged personal injury/health and safety
  • Breaches and provide reports as appropriate.
  • To participate, organize, develop, and conduct training for employees.
  • To coordinate and attend health and safety committee meetings and provide advice as necessary. To prepare and circulate agenda and minutes.
  • Promote and maintain a culture which places the safety of staff and customers first and aims to deliver a high standard of professionalism on Site.
  • Support HR where appropriate in relation to mental health and wellbeing of staff.
  • Recommend and implement changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Keep records of inspections findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • To stay updated on safety regulations and best practices through courses and events.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health and safety
  • OHS License (advantage)
  • Fire protection certificate (advantage)
  • 3 - 5 years of experience
  • Advanced English knowledge (both written and spoken) is the must
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels
  • Attention to detail and the ability to enforce safety procedures and protocols
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks
  • Expertise in using and maintaining safety equipment 
  • Driving license
