Director of Engineering & QA/Development Center Manager

Position Location:  Belgrade Serbia

Role: 

Smith Micro Software is currently conducting a search for a senior candidate that has experience in managing engineering and QA teams as well as managing operations for a remote technical development center.  This person will be based in Belgrade Serbia and will report to the Corporate VP, Engineering, of our Wireless and Mobility business unit.

Responsibilities: 

• Oversight and management of a remote technical development center
• Oversight and direction of all engineering and QA activities for products and components developed in Belgrade
• Represent Smith Micro technology in customer meetings
• Recruiting engineering and QA staff to join the existing team
• Management of a staff of up to 50 people

Requirements: 

• 10-15 years of experience in managing software engineering programs and teams in a technical domain
• 5+ years of experience in managing a remote technical development center, as part of an international software development team
• Must have strong wireless software engineering background with product delivery experience
• Must have proven experience recruiting and building a team
• Must have experience in managing the operations of a remote location
• Must have proficient verbal and written English communications skills
• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Collaborative approach and ability to work in a matrixed environment
• While hands on programming will not be expected, must understand C++, Java, .Net, GSM, CDMA, Windows architecture in order to manage and support team

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in the US or working with US based companies
• Wireless and Telecommunications experience, specifically working with GSM network operators and device manafacturers
• Exposure to 4G technologies such as WIMAX or LTE a plus
• Master’s Degree a plus
