Legal & Compliance Officer

JOB SUMMARY

The prime role involves the management of the corporate compliance program designed to create and sustain best practice systems, policies, and tools to enable our people, businesses, and partners to act ethically, stay in compliance, and live by our RISE values at the country or business unit level. Responsibilities include facilitation of internal investigations, creation and maintenance of policies and procedures, coordination of risk assessments, training and communications.

In addition to the successful candidate will work with colleagues to review existing and future contracts and to generally provide in-house legal advice to support or real estate activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Rolls out communications in order to raise awareness of topics critical to the organization.
  • Displays a solid understanding of how behaviors affect people and dynamics of an organization and identifies the elements of an effective ethics and compliance program.
  • Recognizes and understands the applicability of corporate and industry standards to the business.
  • Understands the policy and procedure infrastructure within the business and can identify gaps in compliance policy and procedures. Inquires about and conducts the risk assessment process effectively, capturing business inputs.
  • Analyzes risk in various compliance areas across assigned business utilizing standard tools.
  • Awareness of primary legal and regulatory framework that applies to risk assessment processes.
  • Coordinates and conducts an investigation of reported issues in accordance with CBRE policy and articulates/defends the findings to leadership.
  • Recommends follow up actions specific to the allegations of the investigation.
  • Aides in the facilitation of all compliance audits.
  • Understands the strengths and challenge areas of an ethics and compliance program review.
  • Coordinates internal and external business assessments at their assigned locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Degree with a preference in Business Administration, Law, Accounting, Finance or related field plus a minimum of 2 years professional level compliance, accounting, or legal experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Fluency in English is essential

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to collect, analyze and summarize complex accounting data. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis. Requires intermediate knowledge of Service Organization Controls compliance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products). Advanced organizational skills, attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure with proactive approach to routine and non-routine occurrences.
