Academic Developer Evangelist (ADE)

We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic about technology and engaging with the academic community. ADEs must be able to talk about a broad range of technology intelligently and enthusiastically to students, faculty and IT professionals. Passion, curiosity, technical depth and exceptional communication and presentation skills are required. ADE is best described as: technologist, marketer, spokesperson, collaborator, and mentor.

As an ADE, you are Microsoft’s representative to academia helping to win the hearts and minds of the student developer and their educators. The ADE is a technical role with the mission of engaging with the broad community of academics and driving excitement around Microsoft technologies. This position is a great opportunity to help improve perception of Microsoft in academia and to increase student usage of Microsoft’s technologies through breadth marketing programs as well as depth engagement with key accounts.

The Academic Developer Evangelist (ADE) is a field member of the world wide team of Developer Platform Evangelists (DPE). The overall mission of the DPE is to secure platform adoption and revenue growth through evangelism, community engagement, relationship marketing and a vibrant solutions ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

You will develop and implement a territory plan to:

• Win the hearts and minds of students by giving them a compelling reason to use Microsoft technologies
• Drive Microsoft's image as a technology leader and compelling choice across academia in your territory
• Engage and build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with university students and faculty
• Deliver academically oriented talks/presentations/talks on Microsoft technologies at university campuses and academic events to both small and large audiences
• Build a vibrant ecosystem between students, companies and community organizations by integrating your efforts into the local software economy
• Convey a compelling and convincing case for the integration and use of Microsoft technologies both in and out of the classroom
• Market Microsoft’s academic resources and programs (i.e. MSDN AA, Dynamics AA) to ensure awareness and participation of universities
• Create an online presence for yourself
• Participate in academic developer online and offline student and faculty communities

Qualifications:

• Unabated passion for technology and Microsoft, a keen eye for unobvious opportunities
• 4 year degree in CS, Eng., IS or related discipline; familiarity with curriculums, solid knowledge of software dev. tools and programming models
• 5+ years related experience
• Flexibility in regards to work schedule and travel
• Strong technology skills
• Current programming skills a strong advantage, academic teaching or research background, or previous evangelism experiences preferred
• Specific knowledge of Microsoft and competitive technologies (Java, academic languages, Linux); working knowledge of database (SQL)
