About the role

This is a remote full-time position based in Serbia, with working hours 10am-6pm CET Monday to Friday. Our People Compliance Assistant role is pivotal in providing a proactive and accurate service to our candidates and colleagues through our end-to-end recruitment process, covering onboarding for new starters, DBS processing, obtaining references, qualifications and overseas criminal checks (certificate of good conduct) requests and understanding the regulations around Right to Work, qualifications and overseas checks.

Reporting into the People Compliance Manager, this role will also be the first contact point for Nursery Management and the Talent Team, processing the day-to-day general queries to deadline and with exceptional attention to detail. Time management, prioritisation and organisational skills are critical for this role along with good IT skills.

Specific duties and responsibilities: 

  • Managing the Compliance inbox, ensuring that all compliance queries are responded to and actioned within the appropriate time frame, and escalated to the People Compliance Manager where required.
  • Providing first line advice to Nursery Management, the Talent Team and the People Operations Team regarding all compliance related queries, including updates on where candidates are in the process as well as following the Safer Recruitment Policy.
  • Completing the onboarding compliance process for new starters and continuing the checks through the process through to Hire.
  • Updating relevant systems, ensuring all compliance related documents are uploaded and clearly labelled, for example qualifications, references and right to work documents.
  • Supporting managers and team members with any additional administrative tasks, confirming start dates, sending out first day emails, generating contracts.
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of Government and Department for Education policies to keep up to date with any changes, particularly around the EU Settlement scheme and Biometric Residence Permits.
  • Working with Talent and People Compliance Manager to obtain missing information to ensure full people compliance.
  • Being the point of contact for all people compliance related queries across the business.
  • To ensure a smooth compliance journey for all new candidates joining the business.
  • Role modeling the N values and ways of working. 

Working experience requirements:

  • Experience working with HR systems, specifically HiBob is desirable.
  • Experience working in fast-paced and agile teams is desirable.
  • Experience working remotely in an administrative role is desirable.
  • Ideally some experience within (but definitely a passion for) the Early Years or Education sector.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbally, with confidence to communicate with all stakeholders across the business and build effective relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills, competent with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and other cloud-based systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • First class organisation skills with excellent prioritisation and strong follow-up skills.
  • A developing knowledge of legislation and the willingness to update knowledge continuously.
