We are creating a new entity focused upon accelerating the investment and development of digital solutions which support the asset lifecycle and will position Arcadis as a digital front runner in the fields of digitized asset management, cities and mobility. Our focus is upon accelerating our ability to bring highly scalable digital propositions quickly and seamlessly to both existing and new Arcadis clients across the globe.
We have a clear vision that will enable us to rapidly scale our existing digital capabilities and innovate based on the identified underserved demand in the market, by creating industry leading products, platforms and solutions. Our strategy to become more digitally focused has already seen the acquisition of two digital asset management companies to build on our existing digital capabilities from the Arcadis technology division, all of which will form the foundations of this new digital entity.
1. The Opportunity
Arcadis Gen’s Product & Technology domain is developing a mobile platform and a number of mobile application products to give Arcadis Gen customers a fresh and effective way to interact with their various asset lifecycle systems out in the field.
The mobile platform comprises a suite of backend Java Spring microservices, running as containers on Kubernetes, that work together with a set of client SDK libraries written in Typescript that enable hybrid mobile applications to interact with the backend.
We are looking for a software developer to join the platform’s agile technical team to focus predominantly on the backend micro-services but also to be flexible and get involved in client side development as well. The agile team is encouraged to cross-pollinate their skills and work across all aspects of the platform.
Core responsibilities include:
Provide high quality code: The role is predominantly about the production of code, which is expected to be high quality and match the project standards. The code will be mostly Java Spring, with also Typescript and Angular on the client side.
Perform unit and e2e testing: All user stories require automated unit and integration tests as part of the definition of done. The developer is expected to design and write tests to provide correct coverage of their code.
Story Estimation: Adding storypoint estimates against configuration activities (user stories, features or improvements) and ensuring the assigned storypoints are delivered according to the Spint schedule.
Collobaration: The developer will work closely with product owners and architecture owners to refine user stories, provide technical designs and implement desired functionalities. There will be some pair programming within the technical team and the developer is expected to share knoweldge where possible to benefit the team as a whole. Feature demonstrations may also be required during sprint reviews.
2. Key Deliverables
§ To develop user stories extending features of the Java Spring based micro-services.
§ To develop unit and integration tests as standard for all development work.
§ To gain an understanding of the cloud/Kubernetes infrastructure to support Architecture Owner.
§ To contribute to mobile platform client SDK libraries.
§ Where required, develop mobile application screens/logic based on provided user stories and UI designs using Angular, Ionic & Cordova.
§ To share knowledge with other team members.
3. Key Relationships, Collaborations and Connections
· This role will work within the Products & Technology group, reporting to the Architecture Owner of a Scrum technical team.

4. What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background with good problem-solving skills. They have knowledge of micro-service architecture and strong experience with Java, preferably with Spring framework and GoF design patterns. They have worked with Docker and Kubernetes before, but this is not essential.
The candidate is a self-starter who takes responsibility for delivering assigned work on time. They work well independently and within a team, pairing up where required and sharing their knowledge were possible to move the whole team forward.
· Fluent in English
· 2+ years of professional experience in software development
· Strong Java technical skills
· Knowledge of GoF design patterns is a plus
· Experience with Spring, Docker or Kubernetes is a plus
· Experience with relational databases
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
Graduate education in a relevant degree or equivalent work history
· Experience with Continuous integration and delivery is a plus
· Experience with building hybrid mobile apps is a plus (Ionic framework, Apache Cordova) is a plus
Experience of agile methodology: SCRUM and Continuous Integration
