Software Development Manager

Position in Belgrade

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and manage a growing team of Software Engineers and Testers that are developing complex distributed mobile and web application systems
  • Hire new engineers and organize team to support future business needs
  • Ensure the team is educated on and following best practices for code quality, test coverage, and secure coding.
  • Ensure that architectural and technology needs are identified, specified and met by the team, with best practices being defined and communicated where appropriate
  • Ensure task management, issue tracking, source control and test coverage practices are documented, adhered to and supported by appropriate tools, and lead the roll-out of such tools if required
  • Coordinate with program managers for the delivery of Engineering/development projects
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure deployment and ongoing support considerations are represented in the engineering process
  • Lead training, development, and performance assessment of team members

Candidate’s profile:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written
  • 5+ years of experience working in a dev leadership role, teams of 10 engineers or more
  • 5+ years working as a hands-on software developer
  • Hands on experience leading teams using Scrum or other agile development methodologies
  • Experience building high availability distributed systems
  • Familiarity and/or experience with some of the following: python, linux, redis, celery, git, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, REST APIs, mobile development, python
  • Use of common task / issue tracking tools (eg JIRA)
  • Very strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills
  • Results-oriented with strong organizational skills and proactive approach
  • Strong leadership, project management, and time management skills
  • Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure and take responsibility
