System/Network Administrator

Engineering/CAD systems

CAD stands for computer-aided design and involves using computer technology to design real or virtual objects. In a corporate context, CAD administrators help firms ensure that CAD systems are functional and adequate in the short term and long term.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operation and remote administration of the clients engineering servers and clients (Windows 2003 /Windows 2008 / XP / Windows 7 based)
• Provide telephone and desktop remote support to clients engineering end users in English
• Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with CAD computer systems.
• Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing engineering environments.
• Performing routine audits of systems and software.
• Applying  engineering system updates, patches, and configuration changes using existing automatic distribution tools
• Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
• Answering technical queries and dealing with often frustrated users.
• Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
• Troubleshooting any reported problems.
• System performance tuning.
• Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running.

Skills / Attributes Required

• Good working knowledge of the following operating systems: Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008.
• Good working knowledge of major networking components, network operating systems
• Knowledge of DHCP server and automatic package distribution over GPO
• Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner
• Capable to work in flexible dynamic environment
• Good documentation skills
• Good knowledge of English is mandatory
• Basic knowledge of French and German is a big plus for potential candidates
