The Cloud Engineer will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the core infrastructure supporting all phoenixNAP products. This role requires a strong understanding of virtual systems administration, high technical aptitude, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
He/she will collaborate closely with operational leads to ensure the infrastructure aligns with the evolving needs of cloud-focused business units. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to maintain existing systems, deploy and manage new environments, and deliver outstanding support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Location: Malta/Serbia/Remote (+/- 3 hours CET)
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus part of an on call rotation schedule.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 3 support for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments using Broadcom VMware products.
- Perform upgrades, patches, and maintenance on cloud systems and infrastructure.
- Manage day-to-day technical operations and resolve service requests efficiently.
- Proactively monitor system health and address performance or stability issues.
- Participate in the provisioning of new environments, services, and features.
- Conduct research and propose improvements or optimizations to existing infrastructure.
- Provide technical support to non-technical customers in a clear and professional manner.
- Document systems, processes, and procedures accurately and consistently.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of cloud architectures and virtualized environments.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in CentOS, Red Hat, and/or Windows system administration.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Broadcom VMware virtualization platforms.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with enterprise backup solutions (Veeam preferred).
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow complex procedures accurately.
- Highly motivated with a growth mindset and desire to develop technical skills.
- Capable of performing under pressure, meeting deadlines, and managing customer expectations.
