Position Overview

The Senior SAP ABAP Analyst is responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining custom SAP applications and programs across multiple modules. This role works closely with functional analysts, business stakeholders, and other technical team members to deliver high-quality, efficient ABAP code that meets business requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in SAP ABAP development, a collaborative mindset, and experience supporting both legacy SAP ECC and modern S/4HANA environments.

Key Responsibilities

ABAP Development & Customization

• Design, develop, test, and deploy custom SAP ABAP programs including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEF objects).
• Develop solutions using classical and object-oriented ABAP programming.
• Modify standard SAP applications using user exits, BADIs, BAPIs, and enhancement points.

Technical Design & Documentation

• Translate functional specifications into technical specifications with clear logic and documentation.
• Collaborate with functional consultants and key users to validate requirements and propose technical solutions.
• Maintain high-quality documentation for programs, processes, and development standards.

Performance Optimization & Debugging

• Analyze and optimize the performance of existing ABAP code and queries.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and conduct root cause analysis to ensure long-term resolution.
• Ensure code meets best practices, performance standards, and security guidelines.

System Upgrades & Integration

• Support SAP upgrades, patches, and S/4HANA migrations with custom code remediation.
• Integrate SAP with external systems through IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and Web Services (REST/SOAP).
• Assist with data migration and conversion activities using LSMW, BDC, and custom programs.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work in agile or waterfall project environments to deliver enhancements and participate in testing cycles.
• Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
• Stay current on SAP technologies and recommend innovative solutions for business challenges.

Qualifications & Requirements

Language: Fluent in English – level B2 or better

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field

Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience
• Strong knowledge of at least two SAP functional areas (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, WM)
• Experience with S/4HANA is a strong plus

Technical Skills:

• Advanced ABAP programming including OO-ABAP, ALV, Smart Forms/Adobe Forms
• Familiarity with CDS views, AMDP, and SAP Gateway (OData services)
• Proficient in debugging, performance tuning, and testing tools
• Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5 development and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) is an advantage
