Position Overview
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst plays a critical role in transforming data into strategic insights through advanced data modeling, reporting, and visualization using Microsoft Power BI and SSRS. This role is responsible for working closely with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, design data-driven solutions, and deliver dashboards and reports that drive decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, a strong communicator, and fluent in turning raw data into clear, actionable visual stories.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Development & Reporting
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that deliver meaningful KPIs and business metrics.
- Design, build and maintain SSRS reports
- Convert legacy Cognos reports to SSRS
- Apply best practices in data visualization to ensure clarity, usability, and performance.
- Create intuitive dashboards that meet both executive-level and operational reporting needs.
Data Analysis & Business Insight
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and interpret data trends to uncover insights and support business strategy.
- Validate and reconcile data across multiple systems to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Data Modeling & ETL
- Build efficient data models using Power Query (M), DAX, and relational data structures.
- Connect to various data sources including SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and cloud services (e.g., Azure).
- Work with data engineers to optimize data pipelines and ensure timely data refreshes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Present analytical findings and dashboard functionality to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Partner with business units (e.g., finance, sales, operations) to understand goals and tailor reporting accordingly.
- Provide training and support to end users to encourage self-service BI adoption.
Continuous Improvement & Governance
- Drive BI initiatives and recommend improvements in reporting processes and data architecture.
- Ensure solutions adhere to data governance, privacy, and security standards.
- Stay up to date with Power BI and SSRS releases and emerging analytics technologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Language: Fluent in English – level B2 or better
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field
Experience:
- 4–6+ years of experience in business intelligence or data analysis roles
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI and DAX
- Experience in enterprise data environments with large and complex datasets
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and visual design)
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Automate, and/or Azure Data Services is a plus
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working cross-functionally with technical teams and business stakeholders
