Head of Accounting

MG Group is hiring! Our client is a well-established Serbian company with over 30 years of experience in electrical equipment manufacturing and construction. Known for delivering turnkey solutions in electrical installations, solar energy systems, and infrastructure projects, the company has demonstrated consistent growth and maintains a stable financial position. With operations that span production, trade, import/export, and construction, they are now expanding their finance team.

We are looking for an experienced and assertive Head of Accounting to lead a growing department and ensure end-to-end accuracy and compliance across all accounting activities. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on operational accounting experience with strong leadership capabilities, especially in the production and construction sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the full scope of accounting operations across production, trade, import/export, and construction
Ensure accuracy and compliance in all transactions including incoming/outgoing invoices, prepayments, and customs-related documentation
Monitor and reconcile inventory using the Pantheon ERP system
Calculate and track project and investment costs related to construction activities
Prepare cost analyses for products and services
Apply and interpret all relevant tax and accounting regulations, including VAT and construction-related taxation
Oversee internal controls and ensure proper posting and reporting
Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory and tax filings
Coordinate with auditors and tax consultants
Develop internal accounting policies, procedures, and controls
Lead and expand a team of four accountants, including task delegation, mentoring, and performance management
Collaborate with other departments including sales, logistics, and project execution to provide accurate financial data and insights

Candidate Profile:

At least 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, ideally within a production or construction company
In-depth knowledge of Serbian accounting and tax legislation
Advanced experience with Pantheon ERP is essential
High level of accuracy, responsibility, and organizational ability
Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Assertive communication style with the ability to lead and influence
Demonstrated experience in team development and cross-department collaboration
