ShiftPlanning Engineering is looking for an individual that can help lead, motivate, and maintain our fast paced / innovative culture. You will be in charge of cultivating that culture and making sure that it stays. You will be a cornerstone of our organization responsible for setting strategic directions for the teams you manage, help guide engineering decisions, and develop the engineers and engineering managers on your teams. We are looking for a:
Director of Engineering
Responsibilities:
- Managing the growth of engineering managers and individual contributors
- Growing the engineering team as a whole
- Raising your hand when we've made a mistake and taking ownership
- Working in an distributed/offshore environment to make sure we’re hitting deadlines and building amazing products
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- Be a proven leader and manager
- Strong proven analytically skills
- Must be a builder and have a proven record of building in the past (meaning experience as a software engineer in your career)
- Must be okay with getting your hands dirty when needed: “read the source, Luke.”
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- High amounts of emotional intelligence
- Ability to filter large amounts of information and distill the important kernel of information
- Experience with different web programming languages like: PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML5, etc...
- Project management experience and proven ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple deadlines
- Enjoy building teams - Must have an excellent eye for engineering potential/talent
- Self-aware to the point of understanding your own strengths and weaknesses, technical and nontechnical
