Senior Power Systems Engineer

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum Dipl.-Ing Electrical Engineering in Power Systems
• An electrical engineering degree which meets the UK Engineering Council Requirements for chartership, and includes power systems options or project.

Experience:

• Minimum three years

Proven experience in two or more of the following technical areas:

• Distribution and/or transmission power system planning and design
• Power system modeling, load flow, fault level and transient stability analysis
• Development and assessment of grid codes and planning and connection standards
• Industrial power system design, including technical and cost assessment of options
• Experience of specifying key electrical equipment parameters

Proven experience in two or more of the following areas:-

• Successful management of projects to time, to budget and to client satisfaction
• Providing technical lead on projects and proposals
• Training, developing and mentoring other engineers
• Checking and peer reviewing the work of other engineers
• Developing and maintaining client relationships
• Bidding and winning work
• Clear articulation of complex issues to clients in both written and oral form.

Experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage:-

• Transmission and/or distribution equipment design, application, installation and operation
• Harmonic measurements, analysis and quality of supply issues
• Lightning and switching surge studies
• Protection system design and setting calculations
• Earthing system design and studies
• Load forecasting and generation planning
• Publication of papers In English at conferences or in peer reviewed journals
• Contribution to relevant professional bodies and societies

Ideally the experience will have been gained in a non-academic environment.

Brief Summary of Position:

The Company provides high-level Technical Assistance and project management services to clients in both the public and private sector in the UK and overseas. We offer our clients comprehensive services ranging from strategic advice, power systems planning, conceptual design and specification, through to project and construction management and supervision. .

The position is for a senior engineer to provide power system planning, design and studies services, directly interfacing with clients to meet their requirements, and fulfill the agreed scope of work to programme and to budget. This includes the preparation of well written reports and clear communication of issues and results.

The role also requires the senior engineer to take responsibility for technical quality of deliverables, provide technical leadership and assist with the training and development of less experienced staff. The senior engineer will be expected to develop and maintain client relationships, and to assist with identifying, bidding and winning new work.
