Save the Children in North Western Balkans (Save the Children in NWB), Field Office Serbia seeks a Programme Coordinator in Education thematic area based in Belgrade. The post holder will be expected to support implementation of Save the Children’s Education thematic portfolio in Serbia related to two sub-thematic areas: ECCD and Basic Education focused on access and quality of education for the most deprived children in Serbia.

Key areas of work: As a member of the Serbia Field Office and in coordination with NWB Education Programme Department, the Programme Coordinator in Education thematic area in his/her capacity is responsible for project planning and budgeting with a number of partner organisations/institutions, day-to-day implementation of activities and support the partners to implement their plans and budgets to achieve the results, observe timely implementation of activities and conduct regular field visits, preparation of interim and final reports support partners in recording and reporting accurately and timely, prepare high quality reports as per SC and donor requirements and facilitate organisation of various capacity building programmes for partners.

Duration of the post: 12 months including obligatory probation period.

We need to keep children safe so our selection process, which includes rigorous background checks, reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse. 

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • At minimum university degree in relevant field;
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in an INGO environment on programmes related to education and support to inclusion to education system for deprived groups of children;
  • Understanding of programme development and implementation (Project Cycle Management), including budgeting, monitoring, review and reporting, partner management and sub-granting;
  • Ability to research, review and synthesize information from a range of sources and produce plans and reports;
  • Facilitating and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to establish effective working relations within the different office team members and external actors;
  • Ability to work under pressure, to manage and prioritise competing demands and to meet strict deadlines with quality outputs;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; 
  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours during the emergency response;
  • Valid Driver’s license, driving experience 3-5 years as min and willingness to be to undertake intensive driving in Serbia and other countries in the region will be considered as advantage;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children, the organisational mandate and child focus including child safeguarding;
  • Excellent understanding of current education processes and reforms in Serbia and the region particularly related to inclusion and access and quality of education for the most deprived groups as well as understanding of education systems and key competencies of different stakeholders within the system.
