Energy Engineer

Tasks

  • Being part of team involved in designing, developing and building renewable and classical energy technologies
  • Carrying out site inspections and energy surveys and identifying potential savings
  • Evaluate construction design information like drawings, design calculations, system layouts, and sketches
  • Inspect or monitor energy systems including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) to see how much energy is being used and how much can be saved
  • Designing and selecting equipment
  • Be familiar with design and specification calculations
  • Preparing detailed schedules of work, feasibility studies and cost estimates
  • Negotiating service agreements and managing associated costs and revenues
  • Liaising and negotiating with fuel providers, specialist contractors, geologists and other relevant organizations
  • Contributing to sustainable energy initiatives and researching new energy methods
  • Keeping up to date with legislation and environmental standards and making sure systems and processes comply
  • Developing technical expertise in all matters to do with energy and environmental control
  • Manage a firms' energy consumption and estimate utility costs for future operations
  • Perform energy modelling, measurement, verification, commissioning, or retro-commissioning
  • Promote awareness or use of renewable energy sources
  • Review architectural, mechanical, or electrical plans to evaluate energy efficiency and/or feasibility

Career Description

  • Future Energy engineer is supposed to have basic knowledge regarding design, and detailed knowledge related to development and evaluation of projects and programs to reduce energy costs or improve efficiency, with use of renewables where applicable
  • He or she will work on the design, building, or remodeling phases of projects
  • Energy engineer will consider all aspects of construction that affect energy usage, especially heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and lighting systems, exploring options for alternate or renewable energy sources to supply some or all of a building's energy
  • Energy engineer will be responsible during the assessment stage of a project, as well as during the design and execution stage and will be responsible for proper project assessment and construction, as well as while working on improving the energy performance of existing structures
  • In addition to being responsible for technical aspects of the project, the energy engineer will perform project management and financial analysis, as well as presenting the potential project to potential clients
  • His/her involvement in the future operations could be also an opportunity
  • This position might require to carry out energy surveys in the Balkans area where we intend to follow up energy related projects

Education level requirements

  • A Bachelor's/Master degree in mechanical or electrical engineering

Relevant experience

  • Minimum 5 years work experience with energy issues, involved in development and execution stage of a project or in operation and maintenance of such facilities
  • Have knowledge of building and construction principles and processes
  • Experience in development of projects in energy field involving renewables: biomass, bio gas…
  • Knowledge of local legislation: energy law, construction law...
  • Knowledge of the equipment manufacturers in the field of energy
  • Knowledge of design and works execution companies from Serbia, specialized in energy and renewables

Personal skills

  • Knowledge of English language is required

  • Ability to travel
