Doctors of the world (Medecins du monde – MDM) is an international humanitarian organization, present in Serbia since 2000. Since 2002, MDM is working in the field of harm reduction. Currently, MDM is conducting an Opiate substitution program in DZ “Savski venac”.
The objective of the Methadone centre within the “Savski venac” Dom Zdravlja is to offer opiate substitution treatments for people dependent on opiates within the framework of a medical / psychological / social care services in conformity with international recommendations. The project is based on the notion of a harm reduction policy, which is a pragmatic and human approach, recognized and promoted by the European Union and the Word Health Organization.

Job description:
The social worker contributes to the social follow-up of the patients from the admission and during the course of the treatment at the methadone centre. She/he also ensures the well being of patients inside the centre, the proper functioning of the centre and the good communication with external partners in the field of drug addiction / social care. It includes:
- Pre-admission - admission interview
- Support in patients` procedure for obtaining documents
- Assisting patients in their re-socializing process
- Propose and participate to social activities inside the Methadone center
Requirements:
- University degree in Political sciences - department of social work and social politic
- Professional knowledge of English language (reading, speaking and writing)
- Sensitivity for work with vulnerable population
- Ability to work with the team and to take initiatives
- Certificate of the Governmental exam for work in the Health institutions is an asset
- Previous experience in international or national NGOs is an advantage
