SCADA Specialist

Summary:

Responsible for SCADA part of the project during the complete project lifecycle. Communication with vendor piers, decision making on the best path moving forward, development inspection, supervision of the test cycles execution, go-live preparation, and cutover execution.

Role description:

• Develop, Review, Analyze, and/or Update SCADA Mapping (source to target)
• Develop, Review, Analyze, and/or Update SCADA Design which includes message mapping, control, etc.
• Develop, Review, Analyze, Alarm management
• Develop, Review, Analyze RTU Templates and Faceplates
• Develop SCADA import files for ADMS (TDT files creation)
• Validate and modify SCADA attributes (catalogs) in ADMS (Alarms, Tags, Message Mappings, etc.)
• Perform migration of SCADA database to a new system
• Validate SCADA migration in a new system
• Support Listen only testing (e.g., create plan, provide data, provide application support, etc.
• Support Point to Point testing (e.g., create plan, provide data, provide application support, etc.)
• Analyze and mitigate SCADA configuration impact on the power application and OMS/FLISR

Required skills:

• Comprehensive understanding of SCADA architecture, including hardware components (sensors, PLCs, RTUs) and software platforms.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC 61850) used in SCADA systems.
• Ability to design SCADA systems that meet operational requirements and integrate with existing or new infrastructure.
• Experience in the integration of SCADA with other systems like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS).
• Skills in managing, analyzing, and interpreting data collected by SCADA for operational insights and decision-making.
• Proficiency in implementing databases and historian software to store and retrieve historical SCADA data.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles specific to industrial control systems and SCADA.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to SCADA security and data protection.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve SCADA system issues, including hardware malfunctions, software bugs, and communication failures.
• Competence in developing and implementing contingency plans for system failures.
• Experience in managing SCADA projects, including planning, resource allocation, implementation, and commissioning.
• Skill in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Ability to develop and deliver training programs for operators and engineers on SCADA system operations, maintenance, and security best practices.
• Creation of user manuals, maintenance guides, and standard operating procedures.
