Job Introduction
Magna International, Global IT is looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a proven track record on data solutions (DWH, BI, EAI) and a bias towards state-of-the-art technologies and best practices.
This senior position will design, build and extend the required data architecture to deliver high performance business intelligence and integration solutions consolidating, harmonizing and contextualizing a fragmented data landscape in order to enable information-driven-decision making for Magna internal customers. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up while being able to deal with a fragmented data landscape.
Major Responsibilities
- Models database objects to fulfil data ingestion and consumption requirements for business intelligence and EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) use cases.
- Drives research and implements proof of concept on state-of-the-art solutions for near-real time EAI and BI, both on-premises and cloud native.
- Consults with customers to collect requirements and design enterprise data models for all domains of the organization.
- Designs, builds and orchestrates data solutions following batch and event driven patterns.
- Drives design and actively participates in the development of modular data quality and monitoring solutions in order to ensure data accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the whole data landscape.
- Responsible for development, testing, documentation and performance of designed solutions understanding and optimizing impact on source and target systems.
Requirements
Completion of University Degree
5 to 7 Years of Work Related Experience
Proven experience on data modeling and ETL techniques such as:
- Temporal multi-dimensional modeling and respective data merging processes
- Full and incremental data extraction and loading (sliding window and delta)
- ETL optimization for performance and minimization of compute resources contention at source and target
Working knowledge in following ETL architectures and technology stacks
- Data warehousing in classic (Oracle, SQL server) and cloud native solutions (Azure Synapse / AWS Redshift)
- Data movement with classic (e.g., SQL / Talend); cloud native (Azure Polybase / Azure data factory); streaming based (Kafka or equivalent), architectures.
- Loading semi-structured file-based data from Azure blob store or file share into classic and cloud native DBs
Nice to have, working knowledge on:
- Implementation of REST services
- Implementation of event driven and subscription-based data services
