ROLE & PURPOSE
We are seeking a high-calibre Business Development Manager to spearhead our growth across Serbia and the broader European market for our Lyra Portfolio of companies. This is a senior, commercially driven role combining strategic partnership development, market expansion, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) capability. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the company's regional footprint, identifying and executing transformative deals, and building the relationships that underpin long-term competitive advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
European & Serbian Market Expansion
• Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy for Serbia and targeted European markets (CEE, DACH, Western Europe)
• Identify, cultivate, and close strategic partnerships, distribution agreements, and commercial alliances
• Conduct thorough market analysis, competitor mapping, and opportunity assessment across new territories
• Represent the company at senior level with government bodies, industry associations, and key institutional stakeholders in Serbia and the EU
• Build and manage a robust pipeline of revenue-generating opportunities across the region
Mergers & Acquisitions
• Lead end-to-end M&A processes: origination, target screening, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and deal execution
• Collaborate with legal, finance, and senior leadership to structure transactions and manage deal risk
• Build and maintain a proprietary deal pipeline of acquisition targets and merger candidates across Europe
• Coordinate post-merger integration planning in partnership with operational and HR teams
• Develop investment theses and business cases for board-level review and approval
Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Management
• Partner with the executive team to define growth objectives and translate them into actionable BD plans
• Manage relationships with investors, advisors, banks, and external M&A consultants
• Prepare high-quality board presentations, pitch materials, and strategic reports
• Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments across the European landscape
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• 7+ years of business development, corporate strategy, or M&A experience, ideally within a pan-European context
• Demonstrated track record of closing significant commercial deals and/or M&A transactions
• Deep understanding of the Serbian and CEE/European business environment, regulatory landscape, and cultural dynamics
• Experience managing full M&A deal cycles, from origination through to post-deal integration
• Strong financial acumen — ability to build and interpret financial models, valuations, and investment cases
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred
• Fluency in Serbian and English is essential; additional European language(s) a strong advantage
