Chief Accountant

AFI Serbia, part of the leading international real estate investor AFI Group, is developing large-scale office and mixed-use projects in Serbia such as: Airport City Belgrade, Business Garden, Skyline and AFI City Zmaj.

Due to the expansion of its portfolio in the Serbian real estate market and planned future development activities, AFI Management d.o.o., as a management company for the entire real estate portfolio of AFI Serbia is expanding its Finance Department and seeking a proactive and motivated candidate for the following position:

Chief Accountant

Our requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a managerial role
• Strong knowledge of local accounting and tax regulations (VAT, CIT, SEF)
• Knowledge of IFRS standards; experience in real estate and construction is an advantage
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• Proven ability to manage and develop a team
• Excellent MS Office skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Fluency in English

Main responsibilities:

• Lead and organize the accounting function across multiple legal entities
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records and General Ledger
• Oversee VAT calculation, tax compliance, and statutory reporting
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Coordinate and support external audits and communication with tax authorities
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Supervise payment processes and ensure alignment with company policies
• Drive improvements in accounting processes and systems (including ERP and automation initiatives)
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation
• Collaborate closely with controlling, finance, and other departments
• Provide support to management through financial insights and analysis
