Data Analyst

Position Summary

The Data Analyst will be responsible for providing data and analytic support for the product development activities of the respective international publisher to drive forward and effectively grow their portfolio.

Job Description

Work closely with the respective publisher to provide analytic support for planning data-driven journal development strategies and initiatives.
Collect, clean, organize, and report on in-depth data and trends using internal business intelligence tools and various citation databases.
Collaborate with other analytics and IT teams to communicate business and/or technical needs and source additional data when required.
Synthesize and visualize analytical findings for consumption by stakeholders in the form of dashboards, reports, and presentations.
Resolve ad hoc data requests from the publisher’s staff, closely collaborating with customers and within time constraints.
Collect, generate, and distribute periodic reports related to the journal portfolio and market performance.
Support competitor analysis using the publisher’s proprietary databases, as well as external databases such as Web of Science, OpenAlex, Dimensions, etc.
Undertake other ad hoc data analysis projects as deemed appropriate by the respective publisher.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience in an academic or business setting; an advanced degree may be substituted for work experience.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English.
Efficiency and competency in the use of Microsoft Office tools with intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel.
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organization, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
Strong commitment to quality.
Ability to interpret reports, analyze trends, and provide insights.
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness and ability to learn how to use new software and technology platforms.
Previous experience with Web of Science, Dimensions, JCR, and other similar databases, preferred.
