Position Overview:

The Data Scientist – IIoT Platform is responsible for supporting the development, operation, and continuous improvement of PWO’s global IIoT platform.

The role focuses on analyzing production, process, sensor, and machine data, developing data-driven applications and reports, and supporting IIoT teams across all PWO locations. The position contributes to platform standardization, governance, and scalability while helping the organization leverage industrial data for optimization, transparency, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Global IIoT Support & Platform Development

• Support the IIoT core teams in all PWO plants in advancing existing applications and developing new use cases.
• Promote the use of the global IIoT platform toolbox across manufacturing locations.
• Drive standardization and further development of the platform to increase maturity, scalability, and usability.
• Support global rollout and adoption of platform standards and best practices.

Data Science & Application Development

• Analyze production, process, sensor, and machine data.
• Develop applications for monitoring, reporting, traceability, optimization, and decision support.
• Translate business and production requirements into practical data-driven solutions.
• Support the implementation of data analytics, automation, and digital manufacturing initiatives.

Project Identification & Implementation

• Identify, structure, and drive new IIoT and data-related projects.
• Coordinate stakeholder requirements and support project implementation activities.
• Collaborate with plant teams, key users, and business stakeholders to ensure value-generating solutions.
• Drive topics independently from idea generation to implementation.

Platform Operations & Governance

• Operate, maintain, and monitor the global IIoT platform.
• Ensure a reliable, secure, and up-to-date platform environment.
• Develop and maintain standards, templates, dashboards, naming conventions, and reusable frameworks.
• Support sustainable implementation and governance of industrial data solutions.

Reporting & Collaboration

• Develop Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations based on production and process data.
• Provide meaningful insights for different stakeholder groups.
• Work closely with plant teams, IT/OT functions, and the global IIoT core team.
• Support knowledge transfer, user enablement, and long-term platform adoption.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Applied AI, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, automation, and application development.
• Experience with Power BI or comparable reporting and dashboarding tools.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to coordinate requirements, support projects, and communicate across different departments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills within an international and cross-functional environment.
