Early Years Instructional Assistant

The International School of Belgrade (ISB) is seeking a caring, energetic, and collaborative Early Years Instructional Assistant to join our Primary School team.

Our Early Years classrooms are joyful, active learning environments where young children learn through play, inquiry, exploration, relationships, and purposeful learning experiences. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and understands the importance of creating an environment in which every child feels safe, known, capable, and increasingly independent.

The Role

Working closely with classroom teachers and other members of the Early Years team, the Instructional Assistant will actively support children's learning, development, and wellbeing throughout the school day.

Responsibilities include:

• Engaging with children through conversation, questioning, modeling, and encouragement to extend their thinking and learning.
• Supporting children's growing independence, confidence, communication, and social skills.
• Supporting the participation and inclusion of children with a range of learning, language, and developmental needs.
• Helping create and maintain engaging, developmentally appropriate learning environments.
• Supervising students during play time, lunch and nap times.

We Are Looking for Someone Who

• Has experience working with young children; experience with children ages 3–6 is strongly preferred.
• Is warm, patient, responsive, and genuinely enjoys spending time with young children.
• Communicates effectively and builds positive relationships with children and adults.
• Works collaboratively and responds positively to feedback and professional learning.
• Is flexible, proactive, dependable, and willing to contribute wherever needed.
• Is fluent in English and comfortable using a range of digital tools.
