EHS Engineer

We are looking for a reliable EHS Engineer to join our team and take ownership of occupational health & safety and environmental protection at our facility, acting as the company's licensed Occupational Safety Advisor (Savetnik za bezbednost i zdravlje na radu). Our EHS systems and documentation are already established, so this role is about maintaining and updating them, not building from scratch.

What You'll Do

• Conduct early-stage EHS risk assessment, control, and supervision during the introduction of new processes, equipment, or facilities.
• Maintain and update the occupational safety protection system for all positions, including organizing mandatory medical check-ups for high-risk roles and keeping risk assessment documentation current.
• Deliver the legally required three-level safety induction training for new employees and organize annual refresher training for existing staff.
• Maintain, monitor, and continuously improve the EHS management system (ISO 14001, and occupational health & safety management system) so it stays audit-ready and in line with certification requirements.
• Serve as the company's main point of contact with relevant government inspectorates and authorities (labor inspection, environmental inspection); keep day-to-day practice aligned with current legal requirements.
• Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, identify root cause, implement corrective/preventive measures, and report to authorities where required.
• Oversee environmental protection topics on-site: waste management (including required records and reporting), and fire protection measures.
• Track, report on, and support the implementation of EHS improvement projects.
• Maintain and update all legally required EHS records, permits, and documentation, working with our existing consulting partners where relevant.

What We're Looking For

• University degree (minimum 240 ECTS) in a technical or natural-science discipline in line with legal requirements for the Occupational Safety Advisor (Savetnik za BZR) license.
• Valid Occupational Safety Advisor (Savetnik za bezbednost i zdravlje na radu) license, with passed professional exam.
• Passed professional exam for fire protection duties (stručni ispit iz oblasti zaštite od požara).
• Chemicals Management Advisor (Savetnik za rukovanje/upravljanje hemikalijama) license is considered a strong advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in occupational safety and environmental protection.
• Practical knowledge of Serbian occupational safety and environmental legislation and reporting obligations.
• Experience maintaining ISO 14001 and occupational health & safety management systems (ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001) in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred.
• Fluent English.
• Comfortable communicating directly with labor and environmental inspectors and other government bodies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
