Company Overview
Dubak Electrical Group is a family-owned national industrial contractor founded in 1988 and headquartered in La Grange, Illinois, with regional operations in Indiana, Florida, Iowa, and Virginia and crews working in more than 30 states. We design, build, install and maintain electrical, automation and technology systems for industrial process facilities — food and beverage, dairy, chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, water and wastewater — as well as mission-critical data centers.
Our work is self-performed and increasingly built before it ever reaches the field. Our DuFab prefabrication and DuMod modular divisions produce skid-mounted assemblies, NEMA-rated enclosures, integrated electrical equipment centers and modular data center solutions out of our Barnsdale campus in Illinois. That model only works when the design is right the first time — which is where this role sits.
Dubak Elektro Group d.o.o. in Belgrade is our engineering team abroad. You will work as a direct extension of our U.S. Engineering and Pre-Construction groups in the greater Chicago area, producing design and shop drawings for live construction projects across the United States.
What you will be doing
Design and documentation
- Produce power distribution layouts, single line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment connection schedules, conduit and cable schedules, and grounding details in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Model electrical systems in Revit to a coordinated, construction-ready level of detail, and resolve clashes with mechanical, piping and structural trades.
- Perform load calculations, conductor and conduit sizing, voltage drop, short circuit and coordination studies, and arc flash calculations in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E and applicable local U.S. codes.
- Develop lighting layouts and photometric calculations for industrial and process environments.
Industrial systems
- Design and detail motor control centers, motor connection and control schematics, VFD installations, and low and medium voltage power distribution.
- Support control and automation packages — control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, I/O schedules, instrumentation loop drawings and process skid electrical.
- Detail specialty systems common to our markets: heat tracing, hazardous (classified) location wiring per NEC Articles 500–506, washdown and sanitary environments, fiber optic and data networking, and voice/audio/video infrastructure.
- Contribute to mission-critical data center work, including modular power distribution, UPS and generator systems, and redundancy schemes.
Prefabrication and modular
- Develop fabrication and shop drawings, bills of material and assembly details for DuFab prefabricated assemblies and DuMod modular equipment centers.
- Design with prefabrication in mind — breaking scope into shippable, installable modules and building repeatable details that our shop and field crews can execute quickly.
- Coordinate with the prefabrication shop on constructability, tolerances and field-fit questions.
Collaboration
- Work daily with U.S.-based project managers, estimators, engineers and field superintendents; participate in design reviews, submittal and RFI responses, and as-built documentation.
- Support Pre-Construction with quantity take-offs and design assist during the estimating phase on design-build pursuits.
- Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues raised from the field and turn the resolution into corrected documentation.
- Share ideas openly and contribute to a solution-oriented engineering culture — we operate by the Golden Rule, and that applies inside the team as much as with our customers.
Qualifications
Required:
- A 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering education.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience using Revit for electrical design, plus working proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of the U.S. National Electrical Code (NEC), or a demonstrated ability to learn and apply it quickly.
- Fluent English for all verbal and written communication — you will be on calls and in drawings with U.S. teams every day.
- Ability to work 10:00 – 18:00 Belgrade time to overlap with our U.S. offices.
Preferred:
- Experience on industrial or process projects — food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, dairy, water/wastewater or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with motor control, PLC/HMI-based control systems, instrumentation or medium voltage distribution.
- Experience producing prefabrication or shop drawings, or working with modular equipment builds.
- Exposure to Navisworks, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP or SKM, and AGi32 or similar photometric software.
- Understanding of NFPA 70E and arc flash study workflows.
What we offer
- Private health insurance.
- Direct, sustained exposure to large-scale U.S. industrial construction — not isolated drafting work.
- Mentorship from and daily collaboration with our U.S. engineering group.
- Opportunity for qualified individuals to travel to the United States for project and training needs, including our Barnsdale prefabrication and training campus.
- A stable, family-owned company that has been building since 1988 and is growing its engineering capability in Belgrade.
