Head of Production/ Belgrade, Serbia

Manager / Director Level  |  Full-Time  |  On-site / Hybrid

About Voxa
Voxa is a fast-growing audiobook platform, currently active in Romania, Hungary, and Italy, and expanding into English and Spanish-speaking markets. We produce and distribute high-quality audio content — from audiobooks and audio dramas to branded and AI-assisted productions — and we are building the operational infrastructure to scale that production across multiple countries and languages.

Role Overview
The Head of Production is responsible for leading all production operations in their assigned country — from pipeline management and team leadership to quality standards and tool adoption. Reporting to the COO and working in close coordination with Heads of Production from other markets, this role sits at the intersection of creative quality and operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong editorial instincts, a systems thinking mindset, and the people skills to lead a cross-functional team of editors, redactors, and narrators.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Peers: Head of Production — Romania; Head of Production — other markets
Direct reports: Audio Editors, Redactors, Narrators, QA Specialists (5–12 people)

Key internal contacts: CTO, Managing Director, Publishing Partners

Key Responsibilities

Production Management
• Oversee the end-to-end production pipeline, from title intake to final delivery, across all active projects.
• Monitor and manage pipeline stages (editing, QA, correction, mastering) to ensure on-time delivery and consistent quality.
• Maintain production tracking systems, update KPIs, and provide regular reports to leadership.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase throughput without compromising quality.
• Coordinate title prioritization with publishing partners and internal stakeholders.

Team Leadership
• Lead and develop a team of audio editors, redactors, narrators, and QA specialists.
• Define clear role responsibilities, workflows, and performance standards for each team member.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and capacity planning aligned with production demands.
• Onboard new team members and ensure alignment with Voxa's production standards and guidelines.
• Foster a collaborative, feedback-driven team culture with high standards and psychological safety.

Quality & Editorial Standards
• Define and enforce audio quality standards for the local market, in alignment with Voxa-wide guidelines.
• Review and approve production output at key quality gates before publication.
• Develop and maintain internal production guidelines, style guides, and reference documents for all production roles.
• Manage listener feedback and correction workflows to continuously improve output quality.
• Collaborate with the Head of Production from other markets to align cross-market quality standards.

Tools, Technology & AI Integration
• Champion the adoption of AI and digital tools to enhance production efficiency (e.g., AI assisted editing, automated QA, audio branding tools).
• Work with the CTO and product team to evaluate, implement, and scale production tooling.
• Build and maintain reporting dashboards, workflow templates, and tracking files (Excel, project management platforms).
• Stay current with industry trends in audio production, AI in media, and audiobook market developments.

Cross-market & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Participate in cross-country alignment meetings with leadership, COO, and peer Heads of Production.
• Coordinate with publishing partners, narrators, and external studios in the local market.
• Translate and localize workflow documentation, templates, and reporting tools as needed.
• Support international expansion efforts by documenting and sharing local production best practices.

Requirements

Must Have
• 5+ years of experience in audio, media, or content production, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to manage and develop a team of 5–15 people across editorial and technical roles.
• Strong understanding of audio production workflows: recording, editing, quality control, and delivery.
• Excellent organizational skills — able to manage 50–200 active titles simultaneously across multiple pipeline stages.
• Hands-on experience with production tracking tools (Excel, project management platforms such as Asana, Monday, etc.).
• High standards for quality with a detail-oriented and process-driven approach.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in the local language and in English.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a multilingual, multi-country environment.

Nice to Have
• Experience in audiobook production, podcasting, radio, or digital audio publishing.
• Familiarity with AI tools for audio post-production (noise reduction, AI narration, speech enhancement, etc.).
• Background in audio branding or sonic identity strategy.
• Experience working in a scale-up or startup environment across multiple markets.
• Background in publishing, translation, or localization.

Language Requirements
Local language: Native or near-native fluency - Required
English: Professional working proficiency - Required
