The Role
Our Belgrade Office is currently seeking an HR Manager to join us. This is an opportunity to own HR for the Office end to end and to be the trusted adviser that partners and colleagues turn to every day. The role is based in our Belgrade Office, with hybrid working in line with the local Office policy.
At Kinstellar, we are committed to delivering exceptional client service across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Southeast Europe (SEE), Central Asia (CA), and Southeast Asia (SEA). With offices in 14 jurisdictions and over 400 local and international lawyers, we handle the most important and complex assignments for clients across diverse industries. As an HR Manager, you will take ownership of all HR processes in our Belgrade Office, from recruitment and onboarding to performance, pay and learning, making sure they support the Office Managing Partner and the wider business objectives.
Collaboration and teamwork are highly valued within our Firm. As an HR Manager, you will report to the Office Managing Partner and work as part of the Office management team, alongside the partners of the Belgrade Office. You will cooperate closely with our Regional HR team to keep the Office's HR practice aligned with Firm-wide goals, policies and culture, and work with recruitment agencies, our external payroll provider and other suppliers.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will be the first point of contact for partners and colleagues on HR matters, advise partners on employee relations and performance, and lead recruitment for the Office. Sound judgement and a practical, commercial approach matter, and so does the ability to win people's trust quickly. If you enjoy being the person people turn to, and seeing the difference good HR makes, you will find plenty of scope here. The role also involves confidential personal data, so care, discretion and accuracy are essential.
Responsibilities Include:
- Own HR for the Belgrade Office and be the trusted first point of contact for partners and colleagues
- Advise partners on employee relations, performance and headcount planning, helping them make sound people decisions
- Lead recruitment for the Office, from shaping the search with our Regional HR team to advising partners on who to hire
- Look after our people at every stage, from onboarding and induction through to exit
- Run the annual appraisal, salary and bonus review for the Office, with the support of the Regional HR team
- Shape learning and development for lawyers and business services colleagues together with our Regional L&D team
- Keep HR operations running smoothly, from employment contracts and payroll to the HR system, reporting and Office policies
Key Skills and Experience Required:
- University degree in Business, Management or Human Resources
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in team management in a multinational environment
- Hands-on HR experience across recruitment, employee relations and payroll administration, with good working knowledge of Serbian labour law
- Excellent English and fluent Serbian, both written and spoken
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to advise partners and work with colleagues at all levels
- Commercial and practical insight, with the ability to listen to business needs and respond to them
- Well organised and focused, with keen attention to detail and the ability to see the whole picture
- Ability to drive, manage and sustain change where needed
- Resilient and flexible, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, able to use initiative and work well both independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience of working effectively across teams and functions
- Experience within a legal or professional services environment
- Other European languages are an advantage
