IFTA Audit & Review Specialist

We are seeking an experienced IFTA Audit & Review Specialist to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to review, verify, and audit IFTA calculations and filings prepared by our staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and readiness for potential audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and audit quarterly IFTA reports before submission.
• Verify fuel tax calculations, mileage allocations, and jurisdictional reporting.
• Analyze fuel receipts, trip reports, and mileage records for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify discrepancies, errors, and compliance issues within IFTA reports.
• Conduct detailed reconciliations between fuel purchases, ELD data, and reported miles.
• Ensure all supporting documentation meets IFTA audit requirements.
• Perform internal audits and provide recommendations for corrections and process improvements.
• Prepare and organize records for state and provincial audits.
• Work closely with accounting, dispatch, and compliance departments to resolve reporting issues.
• Maintain accurate audit documentation and compliance records.
• Assist management with reporting, compliance reviews, and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with IFTA reporting, auditing, and compliance in the trucking industry.
• Strong understanding of IFTA regulations, fuel tax reporting, and audit procedures.
• Experience reviewing and verifying IFTA calculations prepared by others.
• Proficiency in PC*Miler and mileage verification processes.
• Experience working with ELD platforms such as Samsara, Motive, Geotab, or similar systems.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• English proficiency (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing or supporting multi-state fleet operations.
• Previous involvement with IFTA audits, fuel tax reporting, and regulatory reviews.
• Strong knowledge of DOT compliance requirements and transportation industry regulations.
