International Project Controller (m/f/d)

Your Role

As International Project Controller (m/f/d), you support the financial steering of global customer, development, tooling, launch and series projects within an international automotive supplier. Based in the Shared Competence Center in Serbia, you operate in a cross-border setup with direct alignment to the Headquarter Controlling organization.

You combine operational project controlling with SAP-based data quality, master data control, reporting and stakeholder coordination. The role requires strong analytical skills, structured follow-up and the ability to translate project cost developments into clear financial recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the responsible Project Managers, BU Controlling and local functional departments
• Ensure accurate project cost settlement through valid WBS structure assignments and consistent application of naming conventions
• Continuously monitor and accurately update project budgets to prevent budget overruns
• Review and validate project budgets based on the available quotation calculations
• Prepare project cost analyses, monthly reports, forecasts and ad-hoc evaluations for defined international project portfolios
• Identify budget deviations, incorrect postings, implausible cost patterns and project-related financial risks
• Contribute to management dashboards and early-warning reports with focus on budget consumption, forecast trend, risk status and corrective actions
• Support post-calculations, lessons learned and profitability analyses across the automotive project lifecycle from RFQ to EOP

Master Data Control Responsibilities

• Review PSP / WBS structures, project definitions, production orders, project status, cost centers and profit centers in SAP
• Perform regular plausibility checks of budget, actual and forecast assignments at project and cost element level
• Identify closed, incorrect or no longer permitted WBS elements and support clean-up measures with local stakeholders
• Ensure a consistent data basis for SAP BW, Power BI and management reporting
• Document data quality issues and follow up corrective actions with project, controlling and master data owners

Your Profile

You are an experienced finance professional with a strong background in project controlling, ideally in an international automotive or industrial environment. You combine analytical depth, technical understanding with hands-on SAP understanding, clear communication and a strong focus on data quality and process discipline.

Must-haves

• Degree in business administration, finance, controlling, industrial engineering or a comparable qualification
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in project, plant, BU or group controlling
• Experience in the automotive industry or a comparable international industrial environment
• Good understanding of automotive project phases from RFQ / acquisition through development, industrialization, SOP, series production and EOP
• Solid SAP knowledge, especially SAP CO and SAP PS, including PSP / WBS structures, project budgets, project status and SAP reporting. S4/Hana knowledge is a plus
• Strong analytical skills, structured working style and high data quality orientation
• Confident communication skills and ability to work with international stakeholders
• Very good Microsoft Excel skills and fluent written and spoken English

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of SAP FI, PP, MM, SD, CO-PA or SAP S/4HANA project structures
• Experience with SAP BW, Power BI, Power Query or comparable BI solutions
• German language skills
• Experience with dashboard development, workflow automation or data quality monitoring
