Your Role

As Junior Network & Connectivity Engineer, you support the reliable, secure and efficient operation of PWO Group's global network and connectivity services. Working closely with experienced network specialists, the Team Lead IT Infrastructure & Network, international locations and external service providers, you assist with operational activities across WAN, SD-WAN, LAN, wireless, enterprise firewalls, remote access and internet connectivity. You perform structured troubleshooting, implement approved standard changes and contribute to network rollouts and improvement initiatives. The role provides a structured path for developing practical expertise in enterprise network operations and connectivity technologies.

Your Responsibilities Encompass

Global Network Operations

• Support the operation and continuous improvement of global WAN, SD-WAN, LAN and wireless network services
• Monitor availability and performance and support the maintenance of business-critical connectivity across all locations
• Perform structured initial analysis and resolve standard incidents across routing, switching, internet access, DNS, VPN and network services
• Implement approved standard network changes and support lifecycle activities and technical optimizations
• Maintain monitoring information and accurate operational documentation for the network environment

Firewall, VPN & Remote Access

• Support operation of the enterprise firewall landscape in a co-managed model with specialized service providers
• Implement approved standard firewall, routing, NAT, VPN and remote-access changes under guidance
• Support the investigation of security-related network issues and assist with upgrades, migrations and escalations involving external specialists
• Support documented DMZ configurations, network transitions and connectivity controls
• Assist responsible specialists with segmentation and NAC initiatives

Global WAN, Carrier & Cloud Connectivity

• Support the operational development of the global WAN and SD-WAN environment together with managed service providers
• Monitor international internet, underlay, carrier and connectivity services and support provider coordination
• Support new site connections, redundancy improvements and WAN migrations based on defined plans
• Assist with hybrid-cloud connectivity activities, including private connectivity, routing and secure integration of cloud services
• Support connectivity requirements for strategic platforms and services such as SAP RISE and other cloud solutions

LAN, Wireless & Manufacturing Connectivity

• Support enterprise switching, campus networks and wireless infrastructure
• Support network rollouts, hardware replacements, upgrades and standardization across locations
• Support secure connectivity between corporate IT and production or OT environments without responsibility for production systems or applications
• Support connectivity for plants, machines, remote service scenarios and external technical partners based on defined designs
• Assist with coordination of local IT teams and service providers during implementations and changes

Telecommunications Services

• Support telecommunications and VoIP services together with the responsible internal specialists and providers
• Assist with provider incidents, standard changes, certificates, upgrades and modernization activities
• Support the integration of telecommunications services into the network and security environment
• Document provider issues and support technical escalations while deep platform administration remains provider-led

Projects, Documentation & Provider Collaboration

• Complete assigned network and connectivity work packages within infrastructure projects
• Support technical concepts and contribute operational input to network standards and documentation
• Participate in testing and evaluating new technologies according to defined requirements
• Support the preparation of technical requirements and the review of supplier documentation
• Provide operational information for service reviews and technical provider coordination
• Follow approved procedures and consider operational stability and business requirements during changes

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, vocational IT training or a comparable qualification
• Initial practical experience in network support, infrastructure operations or a comparable technical environment
• Experience with enterprise or multi-site network environments is beneficial but not required
• Initial experience with technical changes, projects or external service providers is beneficial
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is beneficial

Preferred Knowledge

• Basic to good knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS and NAT
• Basic practical experience with LAN, wireless, WAN or internet connectivity
• Initial experience with an enterprise firewall platform such as Check Point, Fortinet or Palo Alto Networks is beneficial
• Basic understanding of VPN, remote access, DMZ and network-security concepts
• Familiarity with switching or wireless technologies such as Cisco, Aruba, Siemens Scalance or comparable platforms is beneficial
• Basic understanding of cloud connectivity and multi-site routing is beneficial
• Experience with monitoring tools, technical documentation or structured incident analysis is beneficial
• Knowledge of telecommunications, VoIP or carrier services is beneficial
