Linux Server Administrator (French speaking)

About the Role

On behalf of our client that operates in the fields of passenger and freight transport and is responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of the national railway network, Adecco is looking for a Linux Server Administrator (French speaking).

This position is based in Sofia, Bulgaria, and includes relocation from Serbia, making it a great opportunity for candidates looking to develop their career in an international environment.

In this role, you will work independently and as part of a team, solving technical issues and delivering solutions aligned with business needs. There is no direct end-user interaction. Communication is handled through ticketing systems, email, and phone with internal teams and client IT representatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Linux servers (server restarts, service checks, syslog analysis, monitoring CPU, RAM, and filesystem usage)
• Work with various Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat)
• Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation and analysis
• Manage systems using virtualization technologies
• Identify and troubleshoot issues across OS, databases, middleware, and network layers
• Monitor alerts and manage incidents within the Linux server environment
• Handle and resolve complex tickets, or escalate when needed
• Coordinate with security teams and other technical units
• Diagnose hardware issues and collaborate with Data Center teams
• Ensure proper ticket handling in line with defined processes and SLA requirements
• Process service requests received via email
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external teams
• Support operations during high-volume periods or critical incidents

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is considered an advantage
• Working knowledge of Linux systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat or similar)
• Experience with shell scripting and system configuration
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (KVM, Hypervisor, LXC or similar)
• Basic knowledge of databases (MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle)
• Understanding of resource management and system performance optimization (e.g. load balancing)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proactive approach to learning new technologies and troubleshooting unfamiliar issues
• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
• French language proficiency (minimum B2 level)
• English language proficiency (minimum B1 level)
