Logistics Operations Manager (Distribution & Transport)

We are looking for a Logistics Operations Manager (Distribution & Transport) to lead and optimize transportation and distribution activities within our growing operations in Serbia. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and high-performing logistics operations while managing a team and driving operational improvements across the supply chain.

What will you be responsible for?

Transportation & Distribution Management

• Lead and oversee inbound and outbound transportation operations. 
• Ensure timely, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of goods while maintaining agreed service levels. 
• Optimize transportation planning, route efficiency, shipment consolidation, and carrier utilization.
• Manage transportation capacity to support business growth and seasonal demand fluctuations. 
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, documentation requirements, and internal procedures. 
• Resolve operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimize service disruptions.

Warehouse Coordination

• Act as the key link between transportation operations and warehouse teams. 
• Coordinate shipment priorities, loading schedules, delivery appointments, and capacity planning. 
• Support the resolution of operational challenges affecting transportation performance. 
• Drive alignment between transportation requirements and warehouse execution. 
• Participate in operational reviews and improvement initiatives across logistics functions. 

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate, and develop the transportation and distribution team. 
• Allocate resources effectively and ensure smooth daily operations. 
• Monitor performance, productivity, and service quality against established KPIs. 
• Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans. 
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training activities. 
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement. 

Carrier Performance & Operational Excellence

• Manage relationships with transportation providers and logistics partners. 
• Monitor carrier performance through regular KPI reviews and business reviews. 
• Drive corrective actions and performance improvement plans where necessary. 
• Lead the resolution of transportation disruptions, delays, damages, and service failures. 
• Ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of preventive actions.

Financial Control

• Oversee transportation billing and invoice verification processes. 
• Ensure transportation costs are accurately validated and allocated. 
• Collaborate with Finance and Procurement teams to maintain cost transparency. 
• Monitor logistics spending against budget and identify opportunities for optimization. 
• Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities. 

Continuous Improvement & KPI Management

• Monitor and analyze key logistics KPIs, including: 
• OTIF (On-Time In-Full)
• Carrier on-time performance 
• Transportation costs
• Delivery lead times
• Customer service levels 
• Claims and incident rates 
• Operational productivity 
• Implement Lean, Kaizen, and process improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and operational standards. 
• Support the implementation and utilization of TMS, ERP, and logistics visibility systems. 

Customer Service & Escalation Management

• Serve as the primary escalation point for critical transportation issues. 
• Ensure proactive communication regarding service disruptions and corrective actions. 
• Support customer reviews and service improvement initiatives. 
• Build strong relationships with customers, carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. 

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with local legislation, transportation regulations, health & safety standards, and internal policies. 
• Support internal and external audits. 
• Promote a strong culture of safety and operational compliance. 

What are we looking for?

• Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation, distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations
• Proven experience leading logistics, transportation, or operational teams
• Experience managing carriers, transportation providers, and external logistics partners
• Strong background in operational problem-solving and escalation management
• Experience with transportation billing, cost control, and financial reconciliation
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and logistics systems (TMS, ERP)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation abilities
• Serbian language proficiency (mandatory)
• Professional working proficiency in English
• Experience working in an international or multinational company is highly preferred
• Experience in 3PL, automotive, retail, manufacturing, FMCG, or similar dynamic industries is an advantage
• Valid Category B driving license is an advantage
