DPM Metals Inc. is a Canadian-based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and processing of precious metals properties. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Ecuador with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

For the needs of our “Čoka Rakita” Project department in the in the territory of the municipality of Žagubica, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Mechanical Engineer position.

Role Purpose:

To provide professional support in the planning, coordination, development, control, and execution of mechanical and piping engineering activities, as well as related project activities, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, technical standards, project documentation, and Company requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring the timely, safe, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of project tasks and capital activities, including the coordination of engineering consultants, contractors, and suppliers, the preparation and review of technical documentation, the monitoring of project schedules and costs, and ensuring that engineering solutions, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities comply with defined project objectives, budgets, timelines, and occupational health and safety requirements.

Description of responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and manages engineering consultants, contractors, and suppliers/manufacturers primarily involved in mechanical and piping engineering, as well as civil and structural disciplines when required.
  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders at Group level regarding project activities.
  • Monitors compliance with established procedures and ensures adherence to applicable rules and requirements.
  • Supports the continuous development of employees’ skills and knowledge to promote safe and efficient work practices.
  • Provides safety instructions to team members and maintains all required records.
  • Participates in the development and execution of mechanical, piping, and other engineering projects.
  • Manages engineering and field resources, monitors project costs, and ensures delivery within the approved budget.
  • Prepares and monitors project schedules to support the timely completion of activities and supplier deliveries.
  • Participates in the preparation of technical and detailed engineering designs for submission to relevant government authorities.
  • Supports the development and review of engineering and technical specifications, as well as technical data sheets.
  • Supports the preparation of cost estimates and bills of materials for project budgeting and scope definition.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant laws, government regulations, objectives, and priorities applicable to assigned activities.
  • Works with current engineering documentation and applies DPM Metals standards and specifications.
  • Participates in the development of work packages and provides technical support to construction personnel.
  • Provides support to engineers from other disciplines in relation to plant and equipment.
  • Participates in the development and review of plans for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing of equipment, plants, and systems.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes and efficiency during the development and execution of capital projects through engineering proposals and solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities to optimize project scope and schedules, reduce costs, and recommends corrective actions to mitigate delays, scope growth, and budget overruns.
  • Prepares design variations in response to project optimization requirements and unforeseen events.
  • Prepares administrative correspondence, including meeting minutes, technical queries, and requests for changes to the works.
  • Supports the preparation of justifications for contractual claims and variations during project execution.
  • Participates in the preparation of tender documentation for engineering, fabrication, and installation works, including scopes of work, payment terms, quotations, and site schedules.
  • Technically evaluates bids from engineering consultants, equipment suppliers, and contractors based on the requirements defined in the tender documentation.
  • Communicates with suppliers, consultants, and construction service providers regarding technical matters.
  • Coordinates activities with contractors and field operations personnel, as required.
  • Communicates with engineering resources regarding project requirements throughout the project execution phase.
  • Ensures the establishment and monitoring of relevant financial key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepares training and operating manuals for operations personnel during commissioning and handover, as part of the operational readiness plan.
  • Ensures that plant and equipment are in suitable operating condition during commissioning and handover.
  • Ensures cleanliness and good housekeeping in operational areas.
  • Ensures that occupational health and safety (OH&S) requirements are met for personal activities, as well as by consultants and contractors engaged on the project.
  • Ensures that employees and contractor personnel do not operate or repair plant and equipment unless they are appropriately trained, authorized, and regularly assigned to do so.
  • Conducts or coordinates investigations of incidents, accidents, and unsafe events through to completion, ensuring that the findings and outcomes are communicated and understood by all relevant parties.

Requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical and piping engineering, preferably within the mining, industrial, or capital projects sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working on multidisciplinary and international projects.
  • Experience across project phases, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and piping design principles, applicable codes and standards, materials, equipment, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D modelling; good working knowledge of MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Ability to prepare, review, and interpret technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and technical data sheets.
  • Understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, cost estimation, procurement, and project management processes.
  • Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary and multinational teams.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • A Master’s degree, professional engineering certification, or licence issued by the Chamber of Engineers of Serbia is considered an advantage.
  • Valid driving licence and active driving experience.
