Operations/Fleet Manager

We are looking for an experienced Operations/Fleet Manager to join our growing trucking operation and take a key leadership role in managing the day-to-day performance of our fleet.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in the trucking industry, with a strong understanding of fleet operations, dispatch, driver management, customer relations, and load management. This position requires someone who can make sound decisions under pressure, negotiate effectively, and maintain strong communication across all areas of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall day-to-day operations of a 70+ truck fleet.
• Monitor fleet performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
• Work closely with dispatchers, drivers, customers, and other departments to maintain smooth and effective communication.
• Oversee and maintain communication between departments to ensure issues are identified and resolved quickly.
• Inquire about and evaluate new projects, opportunities, and potential business partnerships.
• Assist with and oversee negotiations with customers, brokers, carriers, and other business partners.
• Provide guidance and support to the dispatch team and ensure operational procedures are being followed.
• Make critical decisions regarding load recoveries, breakdowns, delays, service failures, and other sensitive operational situations.
• Take ownership of difficult situations and determine the most effective solution while considering safety, customer relationships, operational efficiency, and company profitability.
• Monitor driver and equipment performance and address recurring operational issues.
• Work proactively to prevent service failures and minimize downtime and revenue loss.
• Coordinate with management and other departments when major operational decisions are required.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in the trucking industry.
• Strong understanding of trucking operations and fleet management.
• Solid dispatch experience and knowledge of day-to-day trucking operations.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make effective decisions quickly in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple situations and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of driver, customer, and operational relationships.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently without constant supervision.
