Payment Risk Analyst

Role Summary:

This role focuses on oversight of player transactions and payment activities to identify, investigate, and mitigate AML/CFT risks and financial crime. Working closely with cross-functional teams like Fraud, Compliance, and Risk, the position involves detecting suspicious patterns, verifying payment instrument ownership and refining automated monitoring rules. Additionally, it supports internal investigations, regulatory audits and risk assessments for new markets and payment methods to ensure full compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor player transactions and payment activity to identify AML/CFT risks, unusual patterns and potential financial crime indicators.
• Review player and payment data, including payment instrument ownership, BIN/issuing country, IP location, country of residence and related transaction information.
• Investigate AML alerts and suspicious payment patterns, including multiple accounts/instruments, rapid or structured transactions, minimal gaming activity and withdrawals to different payment instruments.
• Verify ownership of payment instruments, document investigations and escalate potential AML/CFT cases to the authorized officer.
• Support enhanced monitoring of high-risk accounts and provide data for internal investigations, audits and regulatory inspections.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of payment monitoring scenarios, rules, thresholds and alerts and prepare AML-related reports and analysis.
• Provide payment-risk input on new payment methods, providers and markets.
• Collaborate closely with Fraud, Payments, Risk, VIP, Compliance, Legal and AML teams, including joint analysis of cases involving both fraud and AML risks.
• Follow AML/CFT escalation procedures and instructions provided by the authorized officer.

Qualifications:

• Secondary education diploma (High school diploma).
• Experience in transaction monitoring, payment operations, fraud analysis or AML compliance - preferably within the iGaming industry, a payment institution, or a bank.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel required; working knowledge of SQL and Power BI is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
