DPM Metals Inc. is a Canadian-based, international mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining, and processing of precious metals. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Ecuador with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

For the needs of our “Čoka Rakita” Project department in the in the territory of the municipality of Žagubica, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Project Cost Controller Specialist position.

Role Purpose:

Provide support to the Project Management Team by monitoring project costs to proactively detect potential cost overruns and ensure correct cost allocations to budget. Minimize the deviation from the budget and ensure that the project is completed within the approved budget. 

Controls actual costs - correct allocation and accumulation, in order for capital expenditures on projects to be effective and correct, in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures

Description of responsibilities:

  • Maintain the overall Procurement and Control Work Package (CWP) register.
  • Review and ensure the integrity and logic of cost coding in all Commitment and Payment Requests (CPRs).
  • Verify CPR cost allocation and available budget prior to processing.
  • Expedite the CPR approval process in line with the applicable Delegation of Authority (DoA) policy.
  • Develop, manage, coordinate, and maintain project control systems and related routine activities.
  • Prepare and process inputs into the cost control system for all approved commitments and cost expenditures.
  • Maintain and control cost management records, templates, databases, and logs, including the cost database, CPR register, and contingency log.
  • Perform month-end closure of all control accounts and prepare cost re-forecasts based on achieved progress and identified trends.
  • Reconcile monthly actual cost expenditures with DPM Metals Finance records and reports.
  • Perform analytical reviews and arithmetic checks of cost reporting documentation.
  • Ensure that all costs recorded in the system are properly authorized in accordance with the applicable DoA.
  • Collect, input, and analyze budget data, and regularly perform actual versus budget comparisons.
  • Consolidate data for project cost reports for Coka Rakita Project management review and approval.
  • Support project management in the development and delivery of accurate cost reporting, including productivity reporting and cost forecasting.
  • Provide guidance to project team members on cost coding, project cost structure, payments, and related procedures.
  • Prepare graphs, diagrams, and other reporting exhibits to present cost status and forecast requirements.
  • Ensure that all cost control documentation is properly filed, secured, and backed up in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regular communication with the accounting department to exchange relevant financial and cost information.
  • Ensure that local and project teams maintain asset registers in line with accounting and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained in good condition.
  • Promote order and cleanliness in operational areas.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental protection rules and report any risks, irregularities, or incidents to the line supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements for own activities, project staff, and all third parties engaged in project execution.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as required by business and project needs.

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge and skills in cost and budget monitoring, analysis, and reporting, as well as work schedule preparation and administration.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement activities, standards, and practices, including negotiation and contracting of professional, technical, and construction services, contract administration, and budget and cost control.
  • Knowledge of project finance management and accounting.
  • Good understanding of the project life cycle, including feasibility, viability, planning, implementation, and completion.
  • Knowledge of applicable local and international regulations and laws related to capital projects and trade in the country of project implementation.
  • Very good command of English.
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with various project control software products, Microsoft Office 365 programs, Microsoft Project, and document management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good management skills, including planning, organizing, and leading diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary teams working in different countries.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work with conflicting priorities.
  • University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in multinational teams engaged in engineering and/or construction activities.
  • Experience in an industrial enterprise will be considered an advantage
