Site Based | Côte d’Ivoire | 6:3 Roster | Flights from Point of Hire
About Orange Mining
Orange Mining is an outcomes-focused team providing client-side project development and mining commercial advisory services. We partner with mine owners to deliver practical expertise in project execution, management and commercial delivery.
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer (Electrical) to support the planning, coordination and execution of electrical infrastructure packages in a mining environment. Working as part of a global team on a major owner-mining development, you’ll drive safe, compliant delivery across infrastructure and operational readiness scopes.
This is a site-based, 8-month fixed-term role in Côte d’Ivoire, on a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster, with flights from point of hire.
Key responsibilities
- Interface with electrical engineering consultants to progress and review key deliverables including load lists, cable schedules, single line diagrams, switchboards/MCCs, and electrical design packages.
- Provide site-based engineering support during construction by responding to RFIs, coordinating design clarifications, and resolving technical issues with contractors and consultants.
- Plan and manage temporary construction power (gensets, temporary distribution boards, changeover/ATS arrangements, earthing, lighting towers) and coordinate the transition to permanent supplies.
- Develop and coordinate workshop and building electrical designs, including LV distribution, lighting plans, small power, outlets, welding bays, compressors and wash bay interfaces.
- Produce practical deliverables suitable for pricing and construction: drawings, bills of material (BOMs), bills of quantities (BoQs), take-offs, cable schedules, and scope documentation.
- Coordinate procurement of electrical equipment and materials (e.g., switchboards/MCCs, generators, lighting, cable, tray/ladder, glands/terminations), including technical evaluations, award support, expediting and delivery assurance.
- Lead and manage testing, commissioning and handover, including FAT/SAT, commissioning plans, test packs, punch lists, redlines/as-builts, O&M manuals, spares and training. Interfaces may include fuel management systems, pumping systems, wastewater plants, generators and BMS/PLC panels.
- Maintain strong QA/QC discipline including inspections, material compliance verification, MDR/document tracking, and as-built mark-ups.
- Provide clear cost and schedule reporting, maintain package registers, and support weekly progress updates aligned to site priorities.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience delivering electrical infrastructure in a mining or heavy industrial environment (owner team, EPCM, contractor or consultant).
- Strong working knowledge of LV distribution, switchboards/MCCs, lighting, building services, and construction execution practices; exposure to comms/CCTV coordination is advantageous.
- Able to produce practical engineering documentation for procurement and construction (layouts, Designs, scopes, BoQs, BOMs, take-offs).
- Strong stakeholder and contractor management capability with a focus on safe, on-time delivery.
- Proficiency with common tools (e.g., AutoCAD; MS Project/Primavera desirable).
- Able to commit to a site-based 8-month engagement on a 6:3 roster in Côte d’Ivoire.
What’s on offer
- High-impact role on a major owner-mining development with broad scope and hands-on delivery responsibility.
- 8-month fixed-term contract aligned to delivery and commissioning milestones.
- 6:3 roster with flights from point of hire.
