R&D and Technical Development Officer

BGS Group Bač operates a 1.95 MWe agricultural biogas plant in Bač, Vojvodina, running continuously since 2016. We are now converting the plant from electricity generation to grid-injected biomethane — a major technical upgrade involving new feeding systems, digestate processing equipment, gas upgrading technology, and a new grid connection.

We're looking for a semi-junior technical person to join the team and support this expansion: someone curious, hands-on, and comfortable moving between a CAD screen, a supplier phone call, and the plant floor.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support research & development work across the plant — testing new processes, feedstocks, and equipment.
• Produce technical drawings, including piping and process layouts (P&ID-style drawings, equipment layouts, modifications).
• Plan and run small trial projects on-site, from setup through to recording and interpreting results.
• Attend industry trade shows and exhibitions to collect data, benchmark technology, and identify new suppliers.
• Reach out to and liaise with new equipment and technology suppliers to explore options for the plant.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• A technical or engineering background (mechanical, process, agricultural, or related) — degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfortable producing technical/CAD drawings (AutoCAD or similar); piping/process drawing experience is a strong plus.
• Genuinely curious and willing to test, measure, and learn by doing.
• Organised enough to run a trial project and keep clean records of what was tried and what happened.
• Confident making first contact with suppliers and asking good questions.
• Willing to travel occasionally for trade shows and supplier visits.
• English language skills sufficient for supplier and technical communication.
• 1–3 years' relevant experience — we're open to a strong graduate with the right aptitude.
