Your Mission

As SAP CO-Product Costing & CPQ Consultant, you design and implement the future integrated product costing and Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) solution. You connect SAP S/4HANA product costing with engineering and product data from PLM, quotation processes, lifecycle simulations, and relevant planning and analytics platforms.

The objective is a consistent and traceable calculation process from customer inquiry and product design through quotation, product and lifecycle costing, site and manufacturing scenarios, and comparison with actual cost and profitability data in SAP. You combine strong functional knowledge with end-to-end solution delivery responsibility.

Core mandate: Establish a scalable CPQ and product costing capability that uses SAP as the source for master and actual data while enabling quotation, simulation, lifecycle views, governance, and global reuse.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Product Costing and S/4HANA

  • Act as the functional expert for SAP CO-PC and product cost controlling within the ongoing SAP S/4HANA program.
  • Analyze and improve costing structures, costing variants, valuation strategies, overhead calculation, cost component structures, standard costs, and product cost roll-ups.
  • Ensure consistent integration with SAP PP, MM, FI/CO, CO-PA, SD, and relevant master-data processes.
  • Align bills of material, routings, work centers, activity rates, material prices, purchasing data, and overhead logic with the future CPQ architecture.

CPQ and Product Lifecycle Costing

  • Translate the existing quotation and calculation logic into a scalable CPQ target solution.
  • Support product, project, assembly, and single-part calculations, including configurable blocks, detailed calculation drivers, machine and process costs, tooling, material, labor, logistics, and overheads.
  • Design lifecycle, variant, and what-if simulations covering annual volumes, price development, ramp-up effects, locations, manufacturing concepts, capacity, investment, margin, and cash impact.
  • Enable target costing, should costing, design-to-cost, quotation costing, and traceable commercial decision-making.

Architecture, Data and Integration

  • Design the end-to-end data flow between SAP S/4HANA, PLM/PDM, the CPQ solution, and planning or analytics platforms such as Jedox.
  • Define system boundaries and ownership for engineering data, product structures, commercial assumptions, calculation logic, versions, released values, and actual results.
  • Ensure consistency between engineering BOMs, manufacturing BOMs, routings, purchasing conditions, planning assumptions, standard costs, and actual costs.
  • Specify functional interfaces, mappings, validation rules, error handling, and reconciliation controls.
  • Contribute to solution evaluation and selection without prematurely limiting the target architecture to one specific product.

Delivery, Testing and Adoption

  • Lead or support the full delivery lifecycle from requirements and solution design through configuration, build coordination, migration, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
  • Create functional specifications, process designs, test scenarios, acceptance criteria, operating documentation, and training materials.
  • Coordinate external implementation partners and internal SAP, PLM, data, infrastructure, and security teams.
  • Support key users and global sites through structured training, rollout preparation, and post-go-live support.

RFQ, Automotive Costing and Global Template Ownership

  • Drive global process harmonization and rollout to PWO locations while ensuring that justified local legal, commercial, and manufacturing requirements are controlled within the template governance.
  • Act as functional owner of the global CPQ and product-costing template, including calculation standards, process design, data definitions, workflows, authorization concepts, documentation, and release governance.
  • Address automotive and industrial manufacturing requirements such as complex assemblies, serial production, launch and ramp-up, engineering changes, customer-specific quotation structures, and global production networks.
  • Integrate tooling and equipment economics into quotation and lifecycle calculations, including tool concepts, investment, amortization, maintenance, replacement, utilization, and customer reimbursement assumptions.
  • Support award and sourcing decisions through transparent plant, make-or-buy, manufacturing-concept, logistics, capacity, investment, margin, and cash scenarios.
  • Model customer programs across the complete product lifecycle, including annual volumes, price development, material indices, productivity assumptions, ramp-up and phase-out effects, and commercial risks.
  • Own and further develop the end-to-end RFQ and quotation-costing process from customer inquiry and technical concept through commercial quotation, approval, and handover after award.

Process, Governance and Continuous Improvement

  • Define versioning, roles, permissions, approval workflows, audit trail, documentation, and release processes for calculations and quotations.
  • Establish a closed-loop process in which actual SAP cost and profitability results are compared with quotation and calculation assumptions.
  • Identify deviations in prices, volumes, scrap, process parameters, overheads, logistics, ramp-up, and location factors, and translate findings into improved calculation parameters.
  • Work closely with Controlling, Sales, Product Development, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Operations, and IT to harmonize business requirements and global standards.
  • Balance global scalability and governance with justified local and business-unit requirements.

Your Profile

Required qualifications

  • Several years of professional experience in SAP CO-PC / Product Cost Controlling and/or product lifecycle costing, technical product costing, should costing, or CPQ.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial product cost structures, including BOMs, routings, work centers, material costs, labor and machine rates, overheads, tooling, and cost component structures.
  • Hands-on functional experience with SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into processes, functional designs, data models, interfaces, and testable solution requirements.
  • Experience participating in or leading solution implementation workstreams from concept to productive use.
  • Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented working style, with strong attention to data quality and traceability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Controlling, Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Production, and IT.
  • Fluent English; German or Serbian is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required for workshops, testing, and rollout activities.
  • Ability to assume global process and template ownership and to align multiple sites and business functions.
  • Understanding of tooling, investment, serial-production, ramp-up, and lifecycle cost drivers.
  • Experience with RFQ and quotation processes in an automotive-supplier or comparable industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with both SAP CO-PC and SAP Product Lifecycle Costing or a comparable product costing platform.
  • Experience with CPQ, RFQ, quotation costing, target costing, should costing, design-to-cost, or multi-year lifecycle simulation.
  • Knowledge of SAP PP, MM, FI/CO, CO-PA, SD, and their integration with product costing.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM processes, engineering BOMs, manufacturing BOMs, configuration management, and engineering change processes.
  • Experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation programs, preferably in automotive or industrial manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Jedox or comparable planning, corporate performance management, or analytics solutions.
  • Understanding of APIs, integration platforms, semantic data models, SAP BTP, or enterprise data architectures.
  • Experience with global rollouts, key-user networks, and cross-site process harmonization.
  • Experience as a global template owner or functional lead for multi-site solution rollouts.
  • Knowledge of tooling costing, amortization models, customer-funded tooling, and investment planning.
  • Experience with OEM or Tier-1 customer inquiries, automotive quotation structures, and award scenarios.
