As a Senior Java Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing scalable backend services and APIs. You will contribute your expertise across the full software development lifecycle while actively supporting your team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

This role requires a strong sense of ownership, a pragmatic delivery mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an international environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Scalable – Backend API Development: Design, build, and maintain high-quality Java-based web APIs and backend services
  • Robust – Feature Development & Maintenance: Implement new features, perform bug fixes, and continuously improve existing services through refactoring
  • Collaborative – Knowledge Sharing & Mentoring: Support team members on technical challenges, conduct code reviews, and foster best practices with a coaching mindset
  • Cross-functional – Collaboration & Cross-Team Work: Work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders across teams to ensure smooth collaboration in a global setup
  • Supportive – Frontend Development: Contribute occasionally to frontend development, complementing your backend focus

Your Profile and Mindset

Expert-Level Skills in:

  • Java (core, modern versions), REST API design and web services, SQL and relational databases, Git version control

Advanced Skills in:

  • Spring Boot, Agile/Scrum methodologies, strong understanding of code quality standards and code reviews

Nice to Have:

  • Basic knowledge of Python, experience with Docker and containerization, familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana), basic frontend development skills

  • Ownership & Problem-Solving Ability, Pragmatic Delivery Mindset: You break down complex, ambiguous requirements and drive them to solutions independently across the full delivery lifecycle. You balance technical excellence with business value and focus on delivering impactful solutions without overengineering.

  • Proactive Communication: You clearly communicate technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and address challenges early.

  • Continuous Learning Mindset: You stay up to date with the Java ecosystem and actively develop your skills.

  • Teamwork & Intercultural Collaboration, Knowledge Sharing: You have experience in and enjoy working in diverse, distributed international teams and adapt to different communication styles.

  • Technical Initiative: You take ownership of architectural decisions and continuously drive improvements at service and API level.
