Senior Mobile Developer
Primary Responsibilities:
End-to-End Mobile Application Ownership
Own the complete lifecycle of iOS and Android applications, from architecture and development through testing, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and production support.
Develop and maintain mobile applications using Flutter and Dart, Swift, and native Android technologies including Kotlin and Java where required.
Maintain expertise across iOS and Android development environments, native tooling, build systems, application signing, deployment processes, and platform-specific requirements.
Work across new and existing applications, shared mobile packages, customer-specific applications, and applications originally developed by third-party teams.
Provide senior-level technical ownership and guidance across the mobile application portfolio.
Full-Stack Development & API Integration
Develop mobile functionality across the complete application ecosystem, including:
- Flutter and native mobile applications
- JavaScript and Vue administrative interfaces
- PHP-based APIs and backend services
- Shared API endpoints and integrations
Implement backend services, APIs, and supporting functionality required for mobile features.
Maintain a strong understanding of API architecture, server-side request processing, business logic, and authentication and authorization workflows, including token generation, expiration, and renewal.
Diagnose issues across application layers and determine whether problems originate within the mobile application, native platform, API integration, authentication workflow, backend service, or customer configuration.
Maintain functional local development environments and perform end-to-end development, integration testing, and regression validation before submitting changes for review.
Customer-Specific & White-Label Applications
Develop and maintain customer-specific and white-labeled mobile applications, including validation, loyalty, and other customer-branded products.
Configure and maintain customer-specific branding, visual assets, application identity, platform configuration, store requirements, and supporting integrations.
Ensure customer applications meet branding and functional requirements while maintaining shared product functionality and minimizing unnecessary code duplication.
Develop reusable components, packages, configuration patterns, and build processes that improve the scalability and maintainability of customer-specific application delivery.
Testing, Quality Assurance & Release Management
Own functional testing and technical validation of mobile application changes across supported iOS and Android devices and operating system versions.
Validate new features, defect corrections, API integrations, authentication workflows, customer configurations, application branding, device compatibility, and release build integrity.
Coordinate with Product and Customer Support to reproduce customer issues, validate corrections, and confirm release readiness.
Manage application testing and distribution through TestFlight and Android testing workflows.
Own the complete production release lifecycle for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including:
- Build preparation and version management
- Apple certificates and provisioning profiles
- iOS and Android application signing
- Test distribution
- Store submission and release management
- Platform and store compliance requirements
Manage releases through customer-specific Apple Developer accounts and the shared Google Play Developer account.
Identify opportunities to automate and improve mobile build, testing, and release processes.
Push Notifications & Mobile Platform Services
Configure and maintain customer-specific Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) credentials.
Integrate notification credentials with customer environments and troubleshoot issues involving device registration, notification tokens, credentials, application configuration, and server-side delivery.
Maintain awareness of changes to Apple and Android platform requirements, SDK requirements, privacy standards, and application store policies that may impact existing applications and future releases.
Production Monitoring & Support
Monitor application health and stability using Firebase Crashlytics and other available diagnostic tools.
Investigate and resolve production issues identified through crash monitoring, application logs, Customer Support escalations, customer reports, and internal testing.
Diagnose issues involving:
- Mobile application code
- Device and operating system compatibility
- API and authentication integrations
- Backend services
- Third-party libraries and SDKs
- Customer-specific configurations
Coordinate with other engineering teams when issues extend beyond the mobile application layer.
Identify recurring crash patterns, compatibility issues, performance concerns, and release regressions, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Architecture, Modernization & Technical Leadership
Maintain and improve the architecture, stability, performance, and maintainability of mobile applications and supporting services.
Support modernization of Flutter applications, native iOS applications, Android components, APIs, and supporting integrations.
Evaluate third-party frameworks, packages, libraries, and SDKs for compatibility, security, platform support, and long-term maintainability.
Identify and address technical debt and opportunities to improve code reusability, development efficiency, testing practices, application stability, and release reliability.
Provide technical guidance related to:
- Flutter and native mobile development
- Mobile application architecture
- API and backend integration
- Authentication workflows
- Platform-specific behavior
- Debugging and testing
- Application release management
Conduct code reviews, mentor developers expanding their mobile capabilities, and contribute to technical planning and architecture decisions.
Documentation, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Create and maintain documentation for application architecture, development environment setup, build and release processes, customer configuration, API integrations, authentication workflows, and troubleshooting procedures.
Improve documentation for inherited and third-party-developed applications to reduce dependency on individual knowledge and support efficient developer onboarding.
Collaborate with Product, Customer Support, backend and API developers, Infrastructure, Security, and customer-facing teams throughout feature development, testing, release, and production support.
Clearly communicate technical constraints, dependencies, application risks, testing requirements, release status, and production issue resolution.
Stay current with mobile development practices, platform changes, application store requirements, mobile security, application monitoring, and build and release automation.
Manage competing priorities across new development, application maintenance, full-stack feature implementation, customer-specific delivery, production support, releases, and technical improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate senior-level ownership of complex mobile applications and supporting systems from architecture and development through deployment and production support.
Primary Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with significant mobile application development experience.
- Strong experience developing production applications using Flutter and Dart.
- Experience with native mobile development, including Swift for iOS and Kotlin or Java for Android.
- Demonstrated experience building, releasing, and supporting multiple production applications across iOS and Android.
- Experience integrating mobile applications with APIs, backend services, and authentication workflows.
- Working knowledge of Apple App Store and Google Play Store build, signing, testing, and release processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
