About the role and the Team: 

We're looking for a talented Software Developer to join our team and play a key role in designing, developing and improving software solutions that support our organisation. You'll work across the full software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions through to development, testing, implementation and ongoing support. You'll primarily focus on developing robust back-end services for internally developed systems, while also integrating with third-party platforms and applications.

Working closely with Business Analysts, Front-End Developers and QA colleagues, you'll help deliver high-quality, defect-free code that meets agreed specifications and produces scalable, secure and high-performing software.

What will you be doing?

• Design, develop, test and implement new software and features.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications, identifying opportunities to improve functionality, performance and optimisation.
• Develop and support core back-end services for internally developed systems.
• Integrate applications and services with third-party systems.
• Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective technical designs.
• Investigate and resolve software issues, including supporting root-cause analysis and reviewing existing code.
• Write and maintain unit tests to ensure reliable, high-quality software.Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability and availability.
• Produce clear technical documentation and development artefacts in line with internal standards and industry best practice.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and end-users when required.
• Continuously develop your technical knowledge and contributing ideas that improve our systems and ways of working.

What we are looking for:

• Degree-level education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu Bash/ shell scripting)
• Solid database knowledge, relational and/or non-relational (MySQL preferred)
• Experience with Apache and Tomcat.
• Experience with containerised and cloud deployment (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure…)
• Experience with Spring and Hibernate.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with strong written and spoken English.
