Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Technical Writer to join our railway industry team. In this role, you will create, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation that supports railway operations, engineering, maintenance, safety, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate can translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical manuals, operating procedures, maintenance guides, and training materials for railway systems and equipment
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, maintenance teams, and safety specialists to gather technical information
- Produce documentation for rolling stock
- Ensure all documentation complies with railway industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Review and revise existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and accuracy
- Manage document version control and publication processes
- Support audits, inspections, and certification activities through accurate recordkeeping and documentation
- Create diagrams, workflows, and visual aids to enhance technical content
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of documentation for projects and tenders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, English, Transportation, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the railway, transportation, manufacturing, or industrial sector
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and operational procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency with document management and authoring tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Schema ST4, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance documentation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in railway operations, rolling stock maintenance, signaling, or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of international railway standards and regulations
- Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical environment
- Familiarity with Schema ST4 or structured authoring systems
- Experience creating training or instructional content
