Head of the Software Development Unit

Job Purpose:

Combined Ratio Solutions is an American company with multiple offices worldwide, engaged in the development of products for insurance companies. Our customers are large international companies, leaders in the insurance industry. We are looking for a Head of the Software Development Unit. You will be responsible for creating software deployment strategies that are essential for the successful deployment of software in the work environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Guiding software development teams through coaching sessions or mentorship.
• Building entire features across all layers (database, services, and Web UI).
• Must have a high understanding of available technical solutions and contribute to team success at the code level.
• Able to effectively provide reasonable estimates for project timelines from design until delivery.
• Able to provide regular project status updates to address any project requirements, issues, or changes.
• Providing ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
• Evaluating a variety of software products, providing peer review and solutions to related code.
• Defining phases in the product life cycle that includes activities and milestones.
• Participating in project review meetings to provide updates on progress.
• Managing teams to maintain a high quality for software products by establishing good habits and practices.
• Completing team member performance evaluations and managing the performance review and compensation process for team members.
• Coordinating with internal teams to ensure alignment for the seamless implementation of current, including new systems.
• Taking responsibility in making strategic decisions that will help ensure the implementation of initiatives.

Skills Required:

• Academic degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• At least 5 years of work experience as a Senior Software Developer or Team Lead.
• Strong knowledge of programming principles, practices, and methodologies.
• Knowledge of the architecture and capabilities of the platform that the team develops and maintains.
• Managerial experience is mandatory.
• Experience in designing and building enterprise-level software.
• Proven expertise in Microsoft .NET technologies.
• Experience in people management with the ability to lead a huge team.
• Experience in employee personal development at an individual and team level.
• Be able to lead and manage the timely delivery of systems or software development projects.
• Experience in various software development methodologies that includes Agile.
• Experience in architectural and implementation-level design.
• Must have a strong desire to maintain technical capabilities and expertise in the latest technologies.
• English language (At least B2).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and guide team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and management.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex technical challenges and provide strategic solutions.
