Communication and Community Manager

DPM Metals Inc. is a Canadian-based international gold mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, mining and processing of precious metals properties. DPM operates across Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ecuador, with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

For the needs of our Belgrade office, we are currently looking to recruit a candidate for the Communication and Community manager position. The company provides an excellent opportunity to learn and to gain invaluable experience with a modern and very active company.

Role Purpose:

The Communication & Community Manager is accountable for overseeing the execution of stakeholder engagement strategies, ensuring the effective management of community relations, and leading corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This role bridges the company’s business objectives with external stakeholder expectations by fostering strong partnerships, managing sponsorship and donation programs, and driving the execution of impactful community development projects.

Description of responsibilities:

Key Activities/Decision-Making Scope:

Communication:

• Own Serbia communications strategy and annual plan (internal and local external); align with Group messaging and brand
• Manage internal channels, campaigns, town halls; produce high-quality content and multimedia
• Handle local media relations and digital/community channels; monitor sentiment and misinformation
• Lead crisis/issues communications (playbooks, escalation, holding statements, simulations)
• Track comms KPIs; continuously improve based on analytics
• Develop, implement, monitor and continually improve internal communications strategy and tactical annual plan that supports the company's objectives.

Stakeholder Strategy & Engagement

• Develop and execute a stakeholder engagement framework that integrates business objectives with regulatory, community, and investor expectations.
• Driving high-level engagement and strategic partnerships across key external stakeholders to align corporate objectives with regulatory expectations, sustainability commitments, and socio-economic development priorities.
• Represent DPM in stakeholder engagements, advocating for sustainable mining practices, economic development, and responsible investment.
• Oversee the Public Liaison Committee (PLC), ensuring active engagement and structured issue resolution.
• Keep an engagement register of commitments, owners, and due dates; report monthly

Stakeholder Engagement & Corporate Relations

• Primary liaison to municipal/district government on community/economic development in coordination with permitting/legal.
• Facilitate the identification and mitigation of stakeholder-related risks, ensuring long-term stability and regulatory compliance.
• Represent the company in key external negotiations, public forums, and institutional engagements.

Community Development & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

• Lead the implementation of community development programs, ensuring alignment with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
• Manage performance indicators to measure the impact of social responsibility programs.
• Oversee corporate sponsorship and donation programs, managing budgeting and project selection processes.
• Ensure the smooth execution of local economic development projects, targeting job creation and business support.
• Oversee the planning and coordination of community outreach programs, including education, healthcare, and environmental initiatives.
• Drive the management of grievance mechanisms, ensuring transparent reporting and conflict resolution.

Event & Project Management

• Oversee and coordinate company-led community events, forums, and awareness campaigns.
• Supervise the planning, budgeting, and execution of corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.
• Manage partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, and donors to co-fund and execute development projects.
• Ensure proper tracking and compliance for all development-related funding and grants.

People Management

• Supervise and mentor the team members, ensuring clear objectives and alignment with company strategies.
• Develop the capacity of team members through structured training programs and leadership development.
• Ensure that all social responsibility initiatives are coordinated with relevant internal departments for cross-functional alignment.

Risk & Compliance Management

• Identify potential risks associated with stakeholder engagement, community investments, and social responsibility initiatives, developing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure all CSR and stakeholder programs comply with local and national regulations.
• Maintain a structured and transparent approach to stakeholder data management, reporting, and auditing.

Requirements:

Qualifications/Education:

• Minimum Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree in economy, Business Administration, Public Relations, Political Science, International Development, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Proven expertise in negotiating partnerships, handling public affairs, and managing development projects.
• Serbian & English language proficiency
• Driver’s license B category

Technical Skills

• Fluency in written and spoken English;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint;
• Stakeholder Engagement - Expertise in developing and executing stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Project Management - Proficiency in managing complex projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant laws and regulations affecting corporate and foundation activities.

Experience

• Strongly Preferred: 5+ years of experience in stakeholder management, community relations, or CSR leadership roles.
