Financial Controller/Senior Accountant
Role summary
We are hiring a hands-on finance lead to own accounting and monthly reporting for our Serbian legal entity. This is a one-person finance function locally, partnering closely with our US finance team. You will run monthly close, manage A/P, A/R, and G/L, and produce trial balances and income statements using miniMAX, Excel, and NetSuite. You will also coordinate VAT (PDV), statutory annual filings, Serbian e-invoicing (SEF), and support the statutory audit with our local accountant.
What you will do
- Own monthly close and general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and close documentation
- Produce monthly trial balance and income statement with variance explanations for monthly reviews
- Manage A/P and A/R processes in miniMAX, including vendor and customer reconciliations
- Initiate payments, manage bank reconciliations, and maintain cash visibility
- Coordinate payroll inputs with an external payroll vendor and post payroll accounting entries
- Coordinate VAT (PDV) and statutory annual statements and filings with the local accountant
- Support e-invoicing compliance in Serbia (SEF), including process controls and archiving
- Prepare monthly reporting inputs for US finance and support consolidation in NetSuite
- Manage intercompany transactions and foreign currency accounting support
- Support statutory audit requests and maintain practical internal controls

- miniMAX and Excel for Serbia accounting workflows and statutory support
- SuiteProjectsPro (formerly OpenAir) for expense approvals
Required qualifications
- Typically 7+ years of relevant accounting experience (flexible based on capability and fit)
- Strong experience with G/L ownership, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with IFRS and US GAAP concepts and translating local to group reporting needs
- Strong English speaking and writing skills, including presenting in monthly reviews
- Comfortable working across multiple systems and improving processes in Excel and ERPs
- Able to work from our Niš office (mostly on-site)
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience coordinating VAT (PDV) and working with Serbian e-invoicing workflows (SEF)
- Experience coordinating statutory annual financial statements and filings
- Experience supporting statutory audit and working with external accountants and auditors
- Experience with intercompany accounting and foreign currency transactions
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar preferred
